Udupi: Demanding the government to set right loopholes in the distribution of ration cards, BJP Backward Class Morcha workers staged a protest in front of the Taluk Office on Friday, January 30.

The protesters shouted slogans against the government, demanding release of food grains for ration cards that have been withheld for verification.

Addressing the gathering, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the state government has been promising a dream world by announcing welfare schemes. “However, the state government has no money to implement the schemes. The Congress-led government has even failed to provide ration cards in the district. Many poor still wait for the ration cards even after one year of submitting applications. Not more than five to ten ration cards are distributed in the taluk offices. Unable to receive ration cards, many are deprived of Anna Bhagya scheme,” he added.

B N Shanker Poojary president of district BJP Backward Classes Morcha, Belve Vasanth Shetty, Kiran Kumar, Sandhya Ramesh, Arun Shetty, Veena Shetty and others were present.
