Udupi: District Government Hospital gets GeneXpert Tuberculosis Testing Device

Udupi: The Newly introduced GeneXpert testing device which is used for the testing of Tuberculosis was inaugurated at the District government Hospital here on March 2.

Dr R Vishal deputy commissioner of Udupi district inaugurated the device. The device which costs Rs 23 lakh, will benefit thousands of patients. The device was donated by Rotary Club Udupi – Manipal under the Rotary grant. The device detects the presence of TB causing bacteria. It can give the result within hours.

In his message deputy commissioner R Vishal congratulated Rotary club for donating GeneXpert device to the government hospital. The district administration has decided to renovate the hospital at a cost of Rs 4.95 crore with the aim to provide better facilities to each and every patient coming to the hospital. By April end the district hospital will renovated with a new flooring, sewage system and roofing work.

The district administration has given approval of Rs 1 crore to purchase various equipments for the solid waste management. The district administration was committed for the all round development of the district hospital, he added.

Dr Bharathesh Adiraj Rotary district governor, Dr Mahendra District Surgeon, Dr Rajani DTO, Sandanda Chatra DRFC, Rehaman Rotary president, Dr Arun Shanubhag, Dr Gowri and others were present.
