Udupi: Manipal Gang rape – Court Records Statement from Accused

Udupi: The District Sessions Court has recorded statements from the accused on April 16 and will proceed with the examination of witnesses in support of the accused.

In the Manipal gang rape case, a MBBS student was allegedly abducted by three persons who carried her to a remote area and allegedly raped her. The police arrested Yogish, Anand and Hariprasad who were the prime accused in the case. The police also arrested Harindra and Balachandra for tampering of scientific evidences. The 108 witnesses were recognized and a charge sheet was filed to the court.

The court examined 64 witnesses related to evidence and the accused were presented to the court. The court recorded the statement from the accused but the defence counsel said that they had witnesses in support of the accused. District Sessions Court Judge Shivshanker Ammarannavar will be examining the witnesses in support of accused on May 8.
