Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna Criticizes Budget as a Blow to Coastal Districts
Udupi: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna has criticized the budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah this time, stating that it is a disappointing budget for the people of the coastal region and that the coastal districts have been neglected once again.
He said the Chief Minister seems to have forgotten the very existence of the Udupi district on the map of Karnataka. The budget, he alleged, has dashed the expectations of the district’s people regarding development in sectors such as health, education, religion, fisheries, tourism, and basic infrastructure.
Suvarna pointed out that despite the demand for an allocation of ₹500 crore for the Narayana Guru Development Corporation, no funds have been provided in the budget. As in previous years, he alleged that Siddaramaiah has continued to ignore the coastal districts because they are represented by BJP MLAs, and has failed to announce any development projects or financial allocations for the region.
He further stated that Siddaramaiah, one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers of Karnataka and having presented a record 17th budget, has disappointed the expectations of the state’s people by imposing a huge debt burden on them, labeling him “Saala Ramaiah” (Debt Ramaiah).
Suvarna added in the statement that the people will give a fitting response to the Siddaramaiah government in the coming days for continuously neglecting the coastal districts and hindering their development.
