Udupi: Mystery Surrounds Bag with Gold Worth Rs 3.84 Lakh Found in Railway Station

Udupi: The railway police from here have found a trolley bag lying unattended in the railway station here a few days ago. When it was not taken away or claimed by anyone for somtime, it was seized and inspected.

It was found to contain 4 gold chains, a necklace, two bangles, 13 rings and six earrings. The total value has been estimated at Rs 3.84 lakh.

Mystery surrounds the case, as no on has registered any complaint in Mangaluru or Udupi ever since Feb 21, when the bag was detected around 7 pm.

It is suspected that it is either a stolen booty which had to be abandoned on sighting the police or one which was snatched in a distant city. Its being found here would not have come to the owners’ notice. It is also possible that the genuine owner who had lost it might be hesitating to claim it fearing income tax queries.
