Udupi: Opium Worth Rs 5.20 Lakh Seized from Kaup Beach – Peddler Arrested

Udupi: On receiving information on Friday afternoon, a team of CID police raided the Kaup beach where Kalu Ram (34) was found with a stock of 1.300 kg of opium, which he was getting set to peddle to visitors and students at the beach.

He hails from Rajasthan but is currently residing in Gangolli. The drug was expected to fetch Rs 5.20 in illegal trade. A mobile phone and Rs 490 were seized from him.

He was arrested by the CID and the case has been handed over to the Kaup police for further investigation and action.

CID DySP Rajan Nayak, inspector Divakar and their team took part in the operation.
