Udupi: SMS College Staff Dies, Three Critical in Bus – Lorry Collision at Mabukala

Udupi: One died and several others were injured when a fish laden lorry hit a bus at the Mabukala bridge bus stand on NH 66 here, on October 3.

The deceased has been identified as Meritta D’Silva, daughter of Peter D’Silva, a resident of Sulkudru and employee of SMS college, Brahmavar.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus stopped to board passengers at Mabukala Bridge bus stand and was about to proceed further, when suddenly a fish laden lorry bearing number KL 04 AB 2130, hit the bus from behind. Meritta, who had just boarded the bus in that stop, was thrown out from the bus and died on the spot.

Several other passengers were also injured. Three passengers are said to be critical. The bus was plying from Hangarakatte to Udupi and the lorry was carrying fish to Kerala from Kundapur.

The Brahmavar police have reached the spot and are investigating.
