Udupi: State Government Releases Rs 20.35 crore for 12 Projects in Constituency

Udupi: The Congress led State Government has released a grant of Rs 20.35 crores for 12 projects in Udupi constituency, said Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA from Udupi Constituency. He was addressing a press meet at the Press Club here, on April 22.

Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes along with Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in-charge of the district, will lay the foundation stone for the projects on April 24. A swimming pool will also be inaugurated on April 24.

“The proposal for constructing JNNURM bus stand has been sent to the Revenue Department for transfer of land to KSRTC. The file will be cleared shortly with the approval of the Revenue Minister. The traffic police, RTO and CMC Commissioner have been instructed to monitor traffic problems in the city.”

“The tender given to Mova for maintaining the city bus stand has been cancelled and a fresh tender will be called. The CMC led by BJP had approved the Mova tender but irregularities were reported. With the call for a fresh tender, the problems in the city bus stand will be solved. The funds from Nagrottana-3 will be utilized for the development of the city bus stand.”

While asked on commercial complexes utilizing the footpath as parking area in the city, he said that he will brief the same to the Deputy Commissioner for further action. He also said that D K Shivkumar, the Power Minister, will be visiting the district and would inspect UPCIL. A demand has been submitted to him to provide 24×7 electric supply to the district as it is adversely affected from the project. The central government has also a crucial part to play in the power sector. The state requires 9500 MW of power supply while the production is limited to 7500 MW, thus creating a deficiency of 2000 MW.
