Udupi: A team led by Sunil Nayak, Circle Inspector has detained a person who has allegedly raped his relative.
The accused is identified as Tirumalesh (34), a resident of Hosadurga, Chitradurga. Tirumalesh had arrived with his niece to Udupi in 2014 to visit the temple town. His niece has alleged that her uncle Tirumalesh raped her.
The girl started to wander around after her parents refused to accept her as she was pregnant. A local of Karkala who spotted her, rescued the girl and admitted her to a hospital where she has delivered. The Women and Child Welfare Department officials who took serious cognizance of the same have registered a rape case in the Karkala Town Police Station.
