Unleashing Hidden Talents ‘Budding Teachers’ Rock the Stage at St Aloysius B Ed ‘Edu-Tarang’
Mangaluru: Teachers just not only teach but are capable of unleashing their hidden talents, by performing in front of the live audience, thereby showing that they too can Rock in the field of Co-Curricular Activities, apart from teaching job-once they graduate! No doubt, that Teaching is a noble Profession, no other profession can match it because it stands in the category of building society. Teachers are the builders of the society. Sometimes teachers think that their duty is only to teach the students and go back but teachers should also learn from the students. Having talents in extra-curricular activities will go a long way in the teaching profession, where the students can follow in the footsteps of their teachers, and learn the techniques.
Edu Tarang’ – a B Ed Inter-Collegiate Cultural Competition was held on Friday, 10 May 2019 at the St Aloysius B Ed auditorium. The programme began with a prayer song rendered by St Aloysius B Ed teachers, followed by the welcome address by Dr Farita Veigas- Principal of St Aloysius B Ed College. The briefing of the event and about St Aloysius B Ed was done by Ms Sandhya-Convener. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by chief guest Bhojatraj Vamanjoor-Tulu Film actor, along with other dignitaries on the dais namely- Fr Praveen Martis SJ-the Director of St Aloysius B Dr Farita Veigas- Principal; Ms Delna Lobo- Vice Principal; and Ms Sandhya- Convener and Ms Shreya U-the Cultural Secretary.
Addressing the audience, in his witty speech, actor Bhojaraj Vamanjoor said, ” To have talents we need God’s blessings, and also that Talents are God-given free gifts. These need to be utilized. By making use of our talents our life will beautiful. Since God has given the talents freely by making use of them we give credit to God. Make life fruitful by making use of your talents. Winning is not important but participation is important-everyone is a winner, if you win or not. You need to exhibit your talents whenever you get an opportunity, rather than keep them hiding inside you. Academics are important, along with it, co-curricular activities will also help in the long run. Even though I am not much educated having done only 6th std, but most of my life I have spent in acting, and also traveled many countries too. You don’t need education to be a doctor, engineer, scientist, professor etc, because I have been one on stage (ha..on lighter side of vein). And remember, because of the talents, Girls become Beautiful, and Boys become Handsome. Best of luck and all success in the competition”.
Fr Praveen Martis SJ also speaking said, “St Ignatius Loyola, our Institution Patron Saint tells us three things- Desire, Deserve and Decide. When you desire for something, you need to deserve it, and then decide what to do next, for success. Like they say, ‘Winning is not important in a contest, but your desire to participate counts most and is important. Don’t feel bad if you lose in this contest, because there would be many such contests in the future where you can excel. Also, be passionate and compassion in life. And feel free when you are at St Aloysius B ED, you are all like our family members, where you can interact with one of the happy teachers and staff here-they are all smiling and hard working. Let me wish you all success in the contest”.
The vote of thanks for the inaugural ceremony was proposed by Ms Shreya U, while the compere was Br Arvin Pais Sj, a B Ed student. Introduction of the chief guest was done by Br Ashwin D’silva Sj. Ten colleges participated in the contest, and the valedictory function was held on the same day at 4 pm.
