MLA Raghupathi Bhat offers prayers for Rain in Udupi Temples

Udupi: With citizens facing acute shortage of drinking water and the reduction of water level in the Baje Dam which provides water to the City, a delegation led by Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat offered prayers at Temples seeking rainfall here on Friday, May 10.

The MLA, along with others performed special prayers at Sri Krishna Temple, Sri Ananteshwara Temple and Sri Chandramouleshwara Temple in the presence of Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Palimar Math and Sri Esha Priya Theertha Swamiji of Adamar Math. Meanwhile, for the past two days, a bunch of volunteers joined by  MLA Raghupathi Bhat joined together in desilting the River Swarna in order to make way for the free flow of water to the Baje Dam so that it could help in providing drinking water to Udupi city.

The ‘Shramadan’ was launched as Udupi town is reeling under an unprecedented water crisis. The ‘Shramadan’ was taken up by volunteers and the MLA, who cleared obstacles over a distance of two kilometers. The accumulated silt had blocked the natural flow of the water for a distance of two kilometers. Following the MLA’s appeal, volunteers including women turned up in large numbers and began to work near the Baje reservoir on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Hepshiba Rani Korlapati and Additional Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari visited the reservoir and inspected the ongoing work. The dredging work is in progress and water has started to accumulate in the major pond.

  1. We the people from different communities and religions in our infinite wisdom have long agreed that God is one and the way we worship him/her is down to our culture and tradition. We even know that he/she is the most merciful, omnipresent and omniscient god.

Everything is fine and dandy up to this point.

Now, coming back to this news article,

On the same day when our beloved MLA offering praying for rains, there could be a wedding planned in a parbu’s house and the bayamma of that house could be praying to god “aaz ek dees paavs yenathlyaar devak argaa’n favo.

So, seriously, whose prayer should the God listen to?
