Wolfsburg (Germany), May 20 (IANS) German football club Wolfsburg and its sporting director Klaus Allofs have agreed on a contract extension until June 2019.

The ‘Wolves’ and Allofs extended their cooperation on Tuesday for another three years. The 58-year-old penned the extension ahead of schedule, reports Xinhua.

“Klaus Allofs was a lucky find for Wolfsburg. He has brought the club what we want, namely, in the upper third of the Bundesliga and into international business. We are delighted that Klaus Allofs will continue his work here. Our path is not over yet,” Wolfsburg chairman of supervisory board Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz said.

After 10 years at league rivals Werder Bremen, Allofs joined Wolfsburg in November 2012.

“I would like to thank the supervisory board for the confidence and the excellent cooperation. After almost three years we reached our first milestones but we are not yet there where we want to go. I approached this task with the aim to substantially establish Wolfsburg in Bundesliga and international competitions,” Allofs said.

With one round to play this season, the Wolves currently sit in second place of the Bundesliga standings, which is a direct ticket for the Champions League. Wolfsburg face newly promoted Cologne for the last match of the season.
