Women Of Don Bosco Parish Get Together For Common Cause

Bengaluru: Women got together to celebrate Women’s Day at Don Bosco Church, Bangalore recently. The women of the parish and the four self-groups which were recently formed had a micro-level celebration of Women’s day. The women of the parish considered the day as a red-letter day and would go in the annals of Don Bosco Church, said one the women. They also put their heads together to get involved in more activities and to help the needy and the poor in the locality.

Speaking on the occasion Ms Salma Taj, the President of Mahila Congress who was the chief guest of the day showered all praises on Don Bosco Church for its services towards the empowerment of women. She urged the participants to make use of all the opportunities that are given by the parish clergy. She said it was a moment of pride for her to say that she was a product of Don Bosco and called on them to live up to the values that they believe in.

Fr Aloysius Santiago, Parish Priest, thanked the women for their yeoman services to the family and society and called upon them to meet once a month in the group, write the reports and collectively tap resources that are given by the government for minorities. This would help them to be able to generate some income for themselves so as to maintain a standard in the family.

The Women’s day witnessed competitions such as cooking without fire and display of Rangoli. Ms Christy thanked Ms Ameli, Jayaceeli, Mr. Jerry and all others who coordinated to make the day a memorable one. The Women’s day celebration which was first of its kind in the parish ended with tea and snacks for all participants. They did not forget to thank the Lord for the special blessings before they dispersed.
