YouTuber Sameer MD Booked for Spreading AI-Generated False Information
Belthangady: A case has been registered against YouTuber Sameer MD at the Dharmasthala Police Station for allegedly disseminating false information via a video created with artificial intelligence (AI). The video pertains to a complaint filed by a witness concerning the alleged burial of multiple bodies in Dharmasthala.
According to the Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police, the video contained fabricated details beyond the scope of the original complaint and witness testimony. Authorities claim that Sameer MD intentionally broadcast the video on YouTube to incite public unrest.
The case has been registered under sections 192, 240, and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These sections relate to fabricating false evidence, using such evidence in judicial proceedings, and actions that deter a public servant from discharging their duty. The police investigation is ongoing.
