Riyadh: Video showing Indian worker being beaten up in Makkah goes viral

Riyadh (IANS): The Saudi government on Monday maintained that a video going viral online and showing a man beating up an Indian construction worker was not of a Saudi national but a national of another Arab country.

The video uploaded on YouTube showed a man described as a “Saudi engineer” beating up the worker engaged in the expansion work on the Grand Mosque in Makkah. In the two-minute-long video, the worker is heard pleading for mercy, but the assailant continues to kick and hit him.

The assaulter also spits on the Indian worker after repeatedly slapping him.
The video was shared by Canadian journalist Tarek Fatah on his Facebook page.

According to Abdullah Al Olayyan, director general of the Saudi labour ministry, inspection teams visited the site of the incident to find out the details about the incident, according to the “Sabaq” newspaper.

Al Olayyan said an investigation into the circumstances of the incident included those responsible at the site, the engineer who committed the assault and the worker who was beaten. He said that the engineer has admitted to what was shown in the video.

Al Olayyan added that the engineer, who is an “Arab immigrant”, apologised to the worker who accepted his apology. He pointed out that the case will be pursued by the concerned authorities to complete the necessary action.

One report said the engineer was an Egyptian national.

According to sources, the video has triggered a debate in Saudi Arabia on the rights of expatriate workers.

  1. Apparently, before the oil boom, Arabs used to come to Bombay for employment. The current slump in oil prices, which as per the global supply estimates, may continue for another 2-3 years. If that were to happen many arabs are likely to come to India in seach of livelihood. That time keep your whips ready.

Are you in the leather business? Or say, into ….. leather & whips as in 50 shades of grey? 🙂

        • ‘…50 shades of grey’ ?? ..Was it part of your aadu jeevitham experience in Saudi? LOL – Rampa

Lol! We will have to pop that question to our Pravadi who ran away to some ಕಾಡು in the Himalayas. And what is the name of the fellow who wrote the book (ಕಾಡು ಜೀವಿತಂ)? ಬಿಲ್ಲ್ ಮಾಹೇರ್? ಬೆನ್ ಕಾರ್‌ಸನ್? Who ya Rampa?

  2. Aadu Jeevitham!!!!!

This viral video only reinforces what every intelligent and educated person knew all along!! The world knows what goes on in those backward societies dominated by old tribal laws and ignorance.

By the way, Tarek Fatah is one brilliant, fearless journalist who is not afraid to expose the true nature of ‘peaceful’ community. I always enjoyed listening to him – Look him up in youtube and enjoy. In fact, he spent a few months in India very recently and gave a few speeches – All are posted on youtube.

Any movies made on our pravaadi sevaka’s ಕಾಡು ಜೀವಿತಂ? SMILES…

      • Sorry – I didn’t mean to invoke sad memories of your stay in Saudi. We can talk about ‘beedi jeevitham’ if it makes it easier for you to forget it all!! LOL

Talk about ANYTHING…(ಆಡು, ಕಾಡು, ಬೀಡಿ, ಮೈಸೊರು, ಲೂನ, ಮೊಹಿಕ, ಯಮ್ರೀಕ ಜೀವಿತಂ). . that makes YOU happy ya Rampa. After all, your continued state of happiness is vital. 🙂

    • “Talk about ANYTHING….” writes joker praveena pinto.

Well, I wish I could!! But, whenever I say a word on your rejected visa and ‘bhagna swapna’, you come back and copy-paste chapters of outdated information found in google to show how much you despise doddanna for his refusal to grant you a visa!! Same way, I can’t say anything about your ‘aadu jeevitham’ either as it reminds you the painful tribal experience!! So I thought it would be safer to talk about ‘beedi jeevitam’ that you currently seem to be enjoying!! smiles…

DON’T just “wish” ya Rampa! And please don’t a “word” either! Just copy-paste PROOF of my allegedly rejected ಯಮ್ರೀಕೀ visa and then we can move on. After all, EVEN A RAMPA should know that when YOU allege something – the BURDEN OF PROOF rests with YOU! Or, is that so hard to comprehend? If so, my due sympathies ya Rampa and you can keep going on and on about my “rejected visa”. 🙂

On the other hand, if you wish to be reminded of the ಭಗ್ನ ಸ್ವಪ್ನಗಳುಂ you and your ಚಡ್ಡಿ ಬಳಗ suffered since your ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಸೇವಕನ visa got rejected on ಅಂಪ್‌ಟೀನ್ ಕೂಡಿಸು ಒಂದು (umpteen + 1) times by some ಅಂಪ್‌ಟೀನ್ ಕೂಡಿಸು ನೂರ ಐವತ್ತು (umpteen + 150) countries… give or take a 100 or so, I will willingly do do! 🙂

        • Proof? What a joke!! Take a look at your own posts on this forum where you copy-pasted google search results on doddanna and compared him to afghaanistaana!! Well, if you spend three more mins, you will find at least 10 more posts where you tried to attack Doddanna for any raama-dhooma incidents!! LOL

Arre ರಾಂಪಣ್ಣ, it looks like there is armor plating around your head and nothing enters it let alone gets registered in there! 🙁

I was pointing out that child abuse happens aplenty in the US and NOT just in Afghanistan! The point was and is – WHAT was the need to single out Afghanistan? Do you think that the folks out in the US are a bunch of Altar boys?

          • When I was referring to the ‘culture’ of bacha baazi, you responded with crime stats from US!! I’ve already exposed how laughable your argument was!! LOL The fact that you will unfairly accuse Doddanna clearly shows you still carry a lot of resentment for rejected visa. It’s time to move on!! smiles…

At least I “copy-paste” stuff from Google! At least I don’t write the first hallucination (eg – my allegedly rejected visa, aadu jeevitham, beedi jeevitham etc) that comes to mind like you. 🙂
