100 Containment Zones in DK, Follow COVID-19 Guidelines – DC Sindhu

Mangaluru: “In Dakshina Kannada, Coronavirus positive cases have increased in June, when these cases increase, containment zones also increase. At present we have 100 containment zones in DK. There is a reason for that, in June nearly 3500 people returned from the Gulf countries to Dakshina Kannada. Out of 3500, nearly 300 people have tested positive for coronavirus, and we have treated them in the COVID hospital. After treatment, we have sent them for home quarantine. I request everyone to follow the home quarantine rules strictly”, said the Deputy commissioner Sindhu Roopesh in a video message on June 27.

DC Sindhu further said, “In June, many people travelled from other states and countries to Dakshina Kannada. They were strictly kept under institutional quarantine for 14 days and later under home quarantine. Many persons who were suffering from ILI had come to the fever clinic for a check-up and were tested positive for the coronavirus. Some of them who were suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection were also tested positive for the coronavirus. In Dakshina Kannada till date, we have received 576 positive cases out of which 150 were active. The rest of them have been discharged from the hospital after recovery”.

DC Sindhu also said, “After lifting the lockdown, people have become careless thinking that COVID is gone. They don’t even bother to wear the mask or maintain social distancing. Many people are going outside unnecessarily. If there is an urgent need or if anyone wants to buy essentials, only then they should go outside. Those who are under home quarantine should strictly follow the guidelines, including following social distancing at home as the infection is spreading very fast. We are now monitoring the home quarantine persons through the app and neighbours of those under home quarantine are also helping us. We want the people under home quarantine to recover soon so that the coronavirus is contained”.

“In Dakshina Kannada, when the cases increased, the containment zones have also increased. Those who reside in containment zones should follow the guidelines. The health officials will visit your house and brief you on following the guidelines. Those who violate the guidelines will be punished, and cases will be filed against them. So far we have filed FIRs on 54 persons for violating the COVID-19 guidelines. This is a public health issue, and everyone should strictly follow the guidelines so that we can check the virus from spreading further.
