Voluntary Bandh Call Affects Normal Life in City

Mangaluru: After the Sangh Parivar called for a voluntary bandh against CM of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit to Mangaluru, most of the private buses were off the road. Even after assurances from the police commissioner Chandra Sekhar of providing protection and safety, only a few private buses were seen plying on the roads but the government buses are operating normally in spite of a couple of incidents of stone pelting here and there.

Few autorickshaws were seen in the auto stands. The police department is on full alert and ready to deal with any situations in the district with additional forces deployed to provide safety and security for the people of the district. The police are on patrol monitoring all activities to deal with the anti-social elements bent on destroying peace in the district.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Sunil Kumar Bajal said, “Today, February 25, CPM has organized a communal harmony rally in the city in which the Chief minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan will speak on Communal Harmony. To disrupt the rally the Sangh Parivar has called for a voluntary bandh, if we see the vehicles on the roads, we can say that all the people are not supporting the bandh. Autorickshaws are operating as usual. Government buses and some private buses are plying the roads. Whatever the Sangh Parivar has planned is going to fail. The Sangh Parivar is trying to create fear among the people by pelting stones at government buses but the police department has taken all the measures to deal with anti-social elements taking the law into their hands”.

Sunil further said, “Today at 2:30 pm, the rally will start from Ambedkar circle Jyothi which will culminate at the Nehru Maidan. The chief minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan will address the gathering. The Sangh Parivar is against Pinarayi Vijayan speaking at the programme and trying their best to stop him. Our programme will be successful since the people of Dakshina Kannada are supporting us”, said Sunil.

Muneer Katipalla said, “There was strong opposition and objection for the Communal Harmony Rally by the BJP and the Sangh Parivar, they have called for a voluntary bandh to stop Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan to come to the city. The Sangh Parivar is trying its best to stop our rally but our intention is to make the rally successful. People from outside who will be attending the programme have already reached the city and the people from the rural areas will be reaching the venue on time. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan is on his way to Mangaluru to attend the programme.”

Muneer further said, “On February 24, the protesters of the Sangh Parivar destroyed our banners and flexes but we have replaced them. The police department has provided full security to our volunteers in replacing the banners and flexes. More than 200 volunteers worked during the night, we will not give up to threats or intimidation by the Sangh Parivar”.

Bandh seems to be voluntary even though you can’t rue out the ‘fear’ factor. Bandh is illegal and there should be a penalty of Rs.100 crores/day on those who call for bandhs. Nobody has the right to shut down free speech.

I would rather choose to live under BJP rule than these lazy parasitic lefties running the country but was there any need for today’s strike? If these apes really had a point to prove then why not go to this Kerala CM’s city and strike? What exactly has this strike proved other than causing inconvenience to thousands of people and crores of losses to businesses? At the end of the day the Kerala CM did not suffer instead we shot ourselves in the foot. He is the CM of an Indian state so he has the backing of the constitutionally… Read more »
