Body of a Missing Fisherman in Gangolli Incident Found

Kundapur: The body of, one of the missing fishermen was found at Kirimanjeswara, on August 17.

The deceased has been identified as Naga Kharvi (58), who had gone missing after a country boat in which they were fishing capsized at the estuary at Koderi Jetty, Gangolli.

According to the police, on August 16, 12 fishermen had gone for fishing. While they were fishing their boat capsized due to heavy winds near the estuary at Koderi Jetty in Gangolli. Out of the 10, eigth fishermen swam to safety, but the other four had gone missing. The boat had capsized due to the gusty winds and high waves. The fishermen had gone to sea from Uppunda near Byndoor.

Coastal security police sources said that there were 12 fishermen in the boat and the remaining fishermen managed to reach the shore. On August 17, Naga Kharvi’s body was found at Kirimanjeswara.

The coastal security police are continuing their search for the other three fishermen who are still missing.
