Case Registered Against VHP Leader Sharan Pumpwell for Sharing Objectionable Comment

Mangaluru: Law enforcement authorities have initiated legal proceedings against Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sharan Pumpwell following allegations of sharing an objectionable comment on social media platforms. The action was prompted by a post, originally authored by a user identified as Vikas, which contained remarks deemed offensive and subsequently shared by Mr. Pumpwell.

The Kadri Police Station summoned Mr. Pumpwell for an inquiry into the matter. Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has confirmed that the post in question has since been removed from the platform. However, a thorough investigation is currently in progress to ascertain the full extent of the situation and any potential ramifications.

A formal notice has been issued, directing Mr. Pumpwell to appear for questioning on Monday. Furthermore, authorities have commenced procedures pertaining to the bond previously submitted by him, suggesting a pre-existing legal context.

Commissioner Reddy has assured the public that appropriate legal measures will be taken, contingent upon the findings of the ongoing investigation. The authorities are committed to a comprehensive and impartial examination of the evidence to ensure a just resolution in accordance with the law. The investigation aims to determine whether the shared content violated any regulations concerning hate speech, incitement to violence, or any other relevant provisions under the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act. The outcome of the investigation will significantly influence the ensuing legal course of action.
