Mangaluru: A. J. Hospital & Research Centre has announced that Dr. B. V. Manjunath, Professor and Head of Cardiology and Chief Interventional Cardiologist, has been awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (UK). This prestigious recognition acknowledges Dr. Manjunath’s significant academic and clinical contributions to the field of cardiology.

Dr. Manjunath has dedicated over 36 years to cardiology, building a distinguished career marked by extensive national and international research publications and presentations. He has served as a PhD guide and University Examiner, and has mentored numerous graduates, postgraduates, and DM Cardiology fellows. His expertise extends to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, where he has performed a substantial number of complex interventional procedures.
The Honorary FRCP is a highly selective international fellowship, distinct from fellowships obtained through examination. It is bestowed upon experienced physicians who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to clinical practice, academics, and medical education. This fellowship confers global peer recognition, signifying the recipient’s standing within the international medical community.
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow award this honour to a limited number of physicians globally, with a maximum of 15 recipients annually. The selection process involves a rigorous voting procedure by members of the Royal College.
The Honorary FRCP will be formally conferred upon Dr. Manjunath at the Royal College Convocation, which is scheduled to take place later this year. This accolade further solidifies Dr. Manjunath’s position as a leading figure in cardiology and highlights the commitment of A. J. Hospital & Research Centre, fostering excellence in medical care and education.
