I have done this carving using one Honeydew and one Orange. Since I’ve carved a lot of serious stuff in the past I thought I would try my hand at some smiley’s this time. One of my friends gave me a tip on this one, thanks to her!

The two cartoon characters look simple but it took me some considerable time to get just that right expression on their faces.

Be little careful when you are carving. The knife has to be very sharp so that when you make the slit for the smile and the eyes you have to know exactly where to stop. I have used Papaya seeds for the eyes. I have placed the eyes in such a way that it looks as if the smiley’s are looking towards each other.

You can make many smiley’s like these and place them on a fully laid dinner table. They also make the perfect accompaniment for a salad.
