Global Youth Summit 2025 Inaugurated at Yenepoya University, Igniting Call for Youth-Led Change

Mangalore: The Global Youth Summit 2025, an international conference organized by the State NSS Cell, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), commenced today at the Yendurance Zone on the university campus. The summit, scheduled from June 4th to 6th, 2025, aims to unite young minds from across the globe to address pressing societal challenges and inspire future progress.

The inaugural ceremony, held at 5:30 PM, was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, and Minister in charge of Dakshina Kannada district. Minister Rao officially inaugurated the summit and delivered a compelling address, emphasizing the transformative power of education and training in a rapidly changing world. He challenged the youth to dismantle existing barriers and actively engage in finding solutions to critical global issues, including environmental concerns, civil rights, human rights, transgender rights, and women’s rights.

“Youth are a global force and can make significant contributions to addressing pressing issues,” Minister Rao stated, encouraging delegates to actively participate in the summit’s diverse sessions and discussions. He further underscored the importance of ethical conduct, healthy lifestyles, and continuous learning as vital tools for navigating contemporary challenges. Concluding his address, he reiterated the summit’s core message: “Every individual matters—stay healthy, stay informed, and contribute to national development,” echoing the slogan: “Uniting Youth, Igniting Change, Inspiring the Future.”

Earlier in the program, Mr. Chethan, IPS, Commissioner, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka, delivered the welcome address, setting the stage for the three-day event. Dr. Prathap Lingaiah, State NSS Officer, provided a comprehensive overview of the Global Youth Summit, outlining its objectives and anticipated outcomes.

Dr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), presided over the function. He highlighted the indispensable role of youth in national development, urging them to make meaningful contributions to society’s advancement.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. M. Vijayakumar, Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), offering insights into the summit’s key themes. The dais was also graced by distinguished guests including Shri Abhayachandra Jain, Former Minister for Youth and Sports, Mrs. Mamatha Gatty, President, Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation, Shri Sadashiva Ullal, Chairman, MUDA, Mr. Thimmayya, District Health Officer, Dr. B.H. Shripathy Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Dr. K.S. Gangadhara Somayaji, Registrar of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Ashwini Shetty, Director, Directorate of Extension and Outreach Activities, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), formally concluding the inaugural ceremony.

The Global Youth Summit 2025 promises to be a dynamic platform for young leaders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and forge pathways towards a brighter future. The summit continues through June 6th, featuring workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions focused on empowering youth to become agents of change.
