Karkala: Three Killed in Horrific Road Accident Near Miyar Kambala Cross

Karkala: A devastating road accident near Miyar Kambala Cross in Karkala taluk claimed the lives of three individuals on Thursday afternoon. The collision, involving a private bus and a Tufan vehicle, also left six others seriously injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM when a private bus, en route from Dharmasthala towards Karkala, allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road near Miyar Kambala Cross. The bus then collided head-on with a Tufan vehicle traveling from Karkala towards Belthangady.

The force of the impact resulted in the complete destruction of the Tufan vehicle, trapping its occupants within the mangled wreckage. Tragically, three passengers in the Tufan vehicle died at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the six seriously injured individuals to Karkala Government Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to Manipal Hospital for advanced medical treatment. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be critical. Authorities are working to ascertain the identities of the deceased and injured.

Following the accident, local residents and passersby immediately initiated rescue operations. They worked diligently to extricate the trapped victims from the Tufan vehicle and assisted in transporting them to medical facilities. The accident caused a temporary disruption of traffic flow on the Miyar road.

The Karkala Town Police Station has jurisdiction over the area where the accident occurred. Law enforcement officers have arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Preliminary findings suggest that negligence on the part of the bus driver may have been a contributing factor in the tragic event. The investigation is ongoing.
