Mangaluru: Court Orders to Demolish 8 houses at Gattibittlu behind Ramakanthi talkies here on January 29.
According to police the land is owned by Madhav Bhat. There are 33 houses in the said land and Madhav Bhat had filed a case in the court to vacate the tenants. All the 33 tenants are staying in the said houses from 130 years.
Madhav Bhat won the case in his favor and the court ordered to demolish 8 houses out of the 33. According to the order the members of the human rights commission, Police from Bunder and Kadri station also arrived at the time of demolition.
Speaking to mangalorean.com one of the tenant said that we are staying in this house from many years. We do not have much income to pay high rent. The sudden order to demolish the house has put us in trouble as we do not have any other place to live.
Due to the lack of unity among the tenants the judgement has been in favor of the owner said another tenant. The tenants did not allow to demolish the houses, discussions are going on to find a amicable solution to the problems.
