Mt Carmel School Celebrates School Feast with Devotion and Grandeur

Mangaluru: The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel the patroness of our school was celebrated on July 15th with great devotion and fervor by the school management, staff, students and parents of Mount Carmel Central School. This day was also celebrated as Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation which was founded 149 years ago on July 16th at Bayonne, France by Venerable Mother Veronica, the Foundress of the Congregation. The sesquicentennial year of the Congregation was ushered in meaningfully.

The cultural programme was presented by the students of Classes X and XII and IIIA and B. The programme began by lighting the diyas, thanking God for his love, grace and mercy and invoking his blessings as we have ushered into the decennial year to glow like the light and as small ambassadors of Mount Carmel to spread love, peace and tolerance amongst all. Through their words, feelings and emotions the students gave a warm welcome to the entire Carmelite family assembled in the school auditorium. Through their awesome performance, the dancers gave a warm welcome that became a treat to pleasing eyes.

A skit on the importance of the day was narrated and dramatized by the students. The story of St. Simon Stock receiving the scapular was enacted. A group of dancers danced to the tune of ‘Pure as Carmel’, honouring Mother Mary, Queen of Carmel. A thrilling dance of celebration was performed by the students which left the crowd foot tapping and enchanted. Addressing the students Sr. Pearl Anne A C, the Chief guest of the day emphasized the Carmelite values of prayer, silence and trust in the providence of God. She also encouraged, appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of the students who put up a meaningful programme.

The holy Mass held in honour of our Lady of Mount Carmel was attended by the Catholic students and staff. The choir, with the singers and musicians was very meaningful and melodious that it took all to Mt. Carmel in Palestine. During the Eucharistic celebration, a few students were initiated into the Carmel Blossom family. The blessed scapulars were distributed to all the Catholics after Mass.
