Police Commissioner Reassures Public on Hate Speech Concerns
Mangaluru: Police Commissioner Sudhir Reddy has addressed public concerns regarding the handling of hate speech offenses, emphasizing that individuals who engage in such acts will not easily evade justice. Reddy stated unequivocally that law enforcement has the authority to promptly remove individuals delivering hate speeches from public platforms.
While acknowledging the court’s prerogative to grant bail following legal procedures, Commissioner Reddy affirmed that repeat offenders who deliver hate speeches detrimental to public interest will face appropriate legal action under the Indian Penal Code. He underscored the importance of free speech within a democratic society but cautioned that any speech inciting hatred or discord would be met with the full force of the law.
