Pulwama attack match fixing between Imran Khan, PM Modi, says Congress’ Hariprasad

New Delhi: In a shocking and insensitive statement, Congress MP from Karnataka, B K Hariprasad, on Thursday claimed that the Pulwama attack, in which 40 CRPF soldiers lost their lives, was a result of “match-fixing between Pakistan PM Imran Khan and PM Narendra Modi.” Hariprasad even went on to allege that the deadly Pulwama attack would not have happened “without the knowledge of the government.”

At a time when the country is still mourning the losses of the 40 bravehearts and is yet to recover from the aftermath of the attack, the Congress leader has been accused of trivialising and politicising the deadly attack. As per reports, Hariprasad also mocked the government saying that a government who can “detect 2 kg of beef in Kerala” could not “detect 300kgs of RDX in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Speaking to reporters, Hariprasad said, “(Union Minister) Ravi Shankar Prasad should clarify whether there was any match fixing between (Pakistan PM) Imran Khan and PM Narendra Modi. Without their knowledge, this Pulwama attack would not have taken place. If you look at the chain of events that have taken place after Pulwama, looks like Narendra Modi had match-fixing with Imran Khan.”

A few days ago, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh had waded into controversy after calling the Pulwama terror attack as an “accident” while raising questions over the number of casualties of terrorists inthe IAF strike in Balakot. He had said in a tweet, “the air strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force in response to the Pulwama accident is being questioned by the International media which is impacting the credibility of our government.”

Meanwhile, in a strong rejoinder, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned Hariprasad’s statement “shameful”, ”deeply reprehensible” and “painful”. “BK Harisprasad crossed all limits of proprietary and decency with his statement. Is he equating India with the terrorist-hub of Pakistan?” he said. The Union Minister said that with these comments, Congress had “insulted the Armed forces and the sacrifices of the 40 CRPF jawans who lost their lives in Pakistan.”
