Puttur: Fatal Collision Claims Two Lives, Including Child

Puttur: A devastating road accident on Saturday evening claimed the lives of a four-and-a-half-year-old girl and her grandmother near the Parpunja Abroad Hall in Inlomogaru village, situated along the Maani–Mysuru National Highway.

The victims have been identified as Shazwa Fatima, aged four years and six months, daughter of Hanif from Bannur, who tragically died at the scene of the collision, and Zulaikha, a resident of Boluwaru Kapikad, Puttur, who later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at KMC Hospital in Mangaluru.
According to the formal complaint filed by Hanif, the incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. Hanif, accompanied by his wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and three children, was traveling from Boluwaru towards Puttur in an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number KA-21-C-3491. A car, registered as TN-72-BL-1759 and driven by Lakshmibadiraju, a resident of Tamil Nadu, purportedly veered out of control due to alleged reckless and negligent driving. The vehicle subsequently collided with the auto-rickshaw after reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road.

Tragically, young Shazwa Fatima was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Zulaikha, Hanif’s mother-in-law, sustained critical injuries and, despite medical efforts, passed away later that night at KMC Hospital.

The Puttur Rural Police Station has registered a formal case, and a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is currently underway. Authorities are examining the details of the incident to determine the precise cause and contributing factors that led to this tragic event.
