Record Number of 120 Marriages Held in Kateel Temple in a Day!
Mangaluru: Kateel Shri Durgaparmeshwari temple in Kateel on Mangaluru-Kinnigoli (Moorukaveri) road is one of the most preferred venues for Hindu weddings.
A few years ago, even when a bandh was in force, as many as 32 couples managed to reach in time and fulfil their marriage vows at the appointed hour.
A record for recent years was set on Sunday, May 1 when 120 marriages were solemnized in the temple.
The front yard witnessed 101 and another 19 were held in the seven auditoria by the side of the temple.
Special arrangements had been made for registering the marriages.
In expectation of traffic jams, movement of vehicles was prohibited in the main thoroughfare. The vehicles were diverted to alternative routes to skip the town.
Parking arrangements were made in the college grounds and other private lands.
