Rider dies, Pillion injured as motorcycle Catches fire after Collision at Maravanthe

Kundapur: In a ghastly accident, a 20-year-old youth was killed and the pillion rider injured when a car collided head-on into their motorbike on NH 66 at Maravanthe under the Gangolli police station limits here on May 20.

The deceased has been identified as Punith Poojary (20), son of Muttaiah  Byndoor. The injured has been identified as Akash Poojary.

According to the police, Punith and Akash were on their way to Byndoor from Kundapur and the car was travelling from Nagaur to Kundapur. At Maravanthe the car collided head-on into the bike killing Punith on the spot.

The impact was such that the bike caught fire soon after the accident. The bike has totally charred and the car was damaged in the fire. The injured Akash was rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur with help of locals.

Byndoor MLA BM Sukumar Shetty and Byndoor BJP Block Committee Secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty visited the hospital.

The Gangolli police have visited the spot and registered a case.
