Sri Vishwa Vijaya Files Lawsuit against 8 Pithadipathis to form Written Constitution for Maths

Udupi: The former Junior Peetadhipati of Pejavar Math Sri Vishwa Vijaya filed a lawsuit against Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji and other 7 Pithadipathis in the Udupi civil court and urged to form a written constitution for the smooth functioning of all the eight Maths, here on January 30.

There are differences between the Peetadhipathis like enmity, conflicts etc and in order to maintain the sanctity and the unity among the Maths, a written constitution is a must. Ashta Maths of Udupi are a group of eight Maths or Hindu monasteries established by Madhvacharya, the preceptor of the Dvaita school of Hindu thought. For each of the eight Maths, Madhvacharya appointed one of his direct disciples to be the first Swamiji, head of the Math. During the festival, misunderstanding between the Peetadhipathis has spoiled the image of Madhwacharya. The Peetadhipathis misuse the laws of the Math.

On January 4, 2016, Sri Vishwa Vijaya sent a lawyer notice to all the eight Maths to form a written constitution with by-laws but the Peetadhipathis did not respond to the notice and are delaying to form the written constitution.

On behalf of Sri Vishwa Vijaya, Advocate K S N Rajesh from Mangaluru filed a petition to the Udupi Civil court.
