Stolen Sri Durgamba Bus Recovered in Udupi
Udupi: Police have recovered a Sri Durgamba bus, valued at approximately ₹40 lakh, which was reported stolen while parked behind Hanuman Petrol Bunk in the city.
According to the police, the accused allegedly abandoned the stolen bus in a forested area at Muddadi near Mudharangadi.
The Sri Durgamba bus, bearing registration number KA-20-AD-1931, was parked behind Hanuman Petrol Bunk at around 9:48 p.m. on September 28. At around 10 p.m., bus conductor Krishna (51) reportedly left the spot on a scooter along with the driver, Rayin Uchila.
When Krishna returned to the petrol bunk as usual on the morning of September 29, he found that the bus was missing. He subsequently lodged a complaint at the Udupi Town Police Station, stating that two unidentified persons had allegedly arrived on a two-wheeler and stolen the parked bus.
Based on the complaint, Udupi Town Police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the stolen bus and identify those involved.
During the investigation, police received information that two unidentified persons had arrived at Hanuman Garage in Chitpady on a scooter at around 2 a.m. on September 29. Further investigation led the police to an area near Muddadi, where the accused had allegedly abandoned the stolen bus.
Police recovered the bus and took it into custody. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the theft.
