Stray Cow Allegedly Forced into Car and Stolen in Kollur; One Arrested

Udupi: Kollur police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the alleged theft of a stray cow, which was reportedly forcibly loaded into a white Swift Dzire car and driven away. Police have also seized the vehicle allegedly used in the offence.

Police have identified the arrested person as Mohammed Sinan (20), a resident of Thotada Mane in Gulwadi village, Kundapur taluk. He was produced before the court following his arrest.

According to the police, Sinan is allegedly involved in five cattle theft cases registered at different police stations in the Kundapur subdivision.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on September 29, when unidentified persons allegedly arrived in a white Swift Dzire, forcibly dragged a stray cow from the roadside, loaded it into the vehicle, and drove away. CCTV footage of the incident subsequently went viral on social media.

Based on a complaint from local residents, Kollur police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Under the guidance of Kundapur Sub-Divisional Deputy Superintendent of Police H.D. Kulkarni and the supervision of Byndoor Circle Inspector Shivakumar, a team led by Kollur Police Sub-Inspector Vinay M. Koralhalli conducted the investigation and arrested the accused.

Head Constable Nagendra and Constables Rudresh, Naveen Kumar, Vilas Rathod and Nagaraj were part of the police team.

Police said the investigation revealed the alleged involvement of two more persons in the case. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest them.
