Three Killed in a Horrific accident at Manki near Bhatkal

Bhatkal: Three people riding on a motorbike were killed on the spot in a horrific accident at Anantwadi on NH66 near Manki in Honnavar taluk on Tuesday, August 14.

The tragic incident took place when the motorbike exploded after being hit by a speeding passenger tempo. The deceased were travelling on the motorbike during the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Abhishek Vivek Naik (22) of Kumta, Sangeetha Timappa Gowda (16) and Sandeep Timappa Gowda (12) of Anantwadi.

It is reported that the victims were heading towards Manki from Murdeshwar when their two-wheeler collided with the tempo, which was going towards Bhatkal from Honnavar. The impact of the collision was such that the fuel tank of the motorbike exploded resulting in severe burn injuries to the victims who succumb to it on the spot.

The entire scene of the accident was heart-wrenching. The bike was seen burning on the side of the road, while the dead bodies were lying on the highway.

As the information was relayed, Manki police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the Manki government hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered in the Manki police station and the driver of the tempo has been detained.
