Two Remanded to Judicial Custody in Kundapur Viral Video Case Involving Minor
Kundapur: Two individuals have been placed in judicial custody following their arrest in connection with a viral video case involving a minor boy. The arrests stem from an incident that occurred on February 22nd in Kandluru town, where a video of the minor, described as a child in conflict with the law, was allegedly recorded and disseminated on social media to incite unrest and public disturbance.
The Kundapur Rural Police Station registered a case based on a formal complaint lodged by the boy’s father. The complaint detailed the events that transpired at a salon in Kandluru, leading to the surreptitious recording and subsequent circulation of the video.
Following an investigation, law enforcement officials apprehended Shashank Bhandary (30), the salon owner and a resident of Janata Colony, Kandluru, and Pramod D’Souza (25), a resident of Marasi Uddinamakkhi in Kavradi village. Both accused were presented before the Kundapur court, which ordered their remand to judicial custody pending further legal proceedings.
Adding complexity to the situation, salon owner Shashank Bhandary has filed a counter-complaint with the Kundapur Rural Police Station. Bhandary alleges that a group of individuals congregated in front of his establishment and issued threats against him. This counter-complaint resulted in the registration of a separate case, which is currently under investigation.
Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar issued a statement indicating that authorities have identified between 20 and 30 individuals believed to be connected to the initial viral video incident. Legal action is currently being initiated against these individuals. Furthermore, efforts are underway to identify an additional 25 to 30 persons who may also be implicated in the case. The Superintendent assured that appropriate action will be taken against these individuals upon identification.
The investigation into both the viral video incident and the subsequent counter-complaint is ongoing, and authorities are committed to pursuing all available leads to ensure that justice is served fairly and impartially. The situation remains fluid, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
