Udupi: High Court Issues Stay Order on Ongoing Case on Discriminatory Lunch Practice

Udupi: The High Court has issued a stay order for the ongoing case, hearing pertaining to Pankti Bedha in the District and Sessions Court.

The complainant Vanitha Shetty was forcibly sent out from the dining hall for being a non-Brahmin on August 15, 2013 at Krishna temple. She had lodged a complaint in the Udupi town police station against the Sri Krishna math official Shankar Bhat and others.
The charge sheet was prepared against the accused and the case was being heard at the District and Sessions Court. Meanwhile Sri Krishna math had approached the High Court appealing for the stay order against the hearing in the District and Sessions Court. Counsel Ashok Harnalli argued on behalf of the math in the High Court.
