Udupi Police Dismantle Prostitution Ring Operating Under False Employment Pretenses; Woman Rescued
Udupi: Udupi police have successfully dismantled a prostitution racket operating under the guise of legitimate employment opportunities, following a raid on a lodge in Udupi city on Sunday, August 24th. The operation resulted in the rescue of a woman who had been allegedly coerced into prostitution.
Acting on credible information received by Inspector Manjunath Badiger, a dedicated police team executed a raid on a lodge located in Moodanidambur village, within the Udupi jurisdiction. The search led them to a room on the second floor of the establishment, where they discovered a woman in distress.
Subsequent questioning of the rescued woman revealed a disturbing narrative of deception and coercion. According to her testimony, a man identified as Sharath, also known as Mohammed Fayaz, had enticed her to travel to Udupi on August 19th with the false promise of a job opportunity. Upon her arrival, Sharath allegedly booked a room at the lodge above and subsequently forced her into prostitution against her will.
Law enforcement officials have taken immediate action to ensure the victim’s safety and well-being. She has been rescued from the exploitative situation and is currently under the care of the authorities.
In the wake of the raid and the victim’s statement, a formal case has been registered against the accused, Sharath alias Mohammed Fayaz, at the Women’s Police Station. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter to gather further evidence and bring the accused to justice. The inquiry will also focus on uncovering any potential accomplices or wider network involved in the operation of this illegal activity.
