Udupi: Religious Day Celebrated as part of Centenary Programme at Our Lady of Health Church

Udupi: The religious day was observed in great fervor and devotion at Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva on the eve of the centenary celebrations here on January 30.

Rev Dr Antony Fernandes, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Bareily was the chief celebrant. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor Diocese of Udupi in his homily said that every faithful along with the priests and nuns are chosen to spread the message of light in the world. The lord has blessed our church in abundance he has chosen all of us to spread the message of peace and the glory of the lord. Many priests and nuns have been ordained from Shirva following God’s call and support of our elders. Our Lady of Health through Lord Jesus has blessed our youth and families to prosper and develop. We should thank the almighty Lord for giving us strength and will to be devoted towards him and safeguard our faith for as long as 100 years, he added.

Following the Mass, before a brief stage programme, priests and nuns of Our Lady of Health Church Shirva serving in different diocese and congregations were honoured by Bishop Dr Valerian Mendonca.

Msgr Baptist Menezes, Vicar General Diocese of Udupi; Fr Julian Fernandes, Sister Rose Agnes; Fr Stany Tauro, Parish Priest; Assistant Parish Priest Fr Wilson, Fr Anil, Fr Jerald, ZP Member Ida Gibba D’Souza and others were present.

Wilson D’Souza, Vice-President Parish Pastoral Council welcomed the gathering. William Machado, Secretary Parish Pastoral council delivered the vote of thanks. Sister Bridgit Madtha compered the programme.
