Udupi: The technical delay in the police verification process for issuing passport is creating hurdles for the applicants in Udupi District.

K Annamalai IPS, SP of Udupi district, is yet to receive a digital key in his name for online submission of police verification process.

The digital key is provided by the Home Department to the District Superintendent of Police for online submission of police verification process. The delay in providing the digital key has delayed the issuance of passport by the Ministry of External Affairs. Police verification is mandatory for fresh applications and with the delay in Udupi Police Headquarters, tourists and job seekers are facing difficulties.

Avinash Bannaje, a job aspirant who has been called for an interview in Dubai on January 31, expresses sadness on the loss of the opportunity.

SP Annamalai says that there are 1044 passport applications awaiting the online approval of police verification. The digital key will be received soon and the applications will be approved.
