We have Lost Humanity and Indulged in Crime Misusing Law – Savithri During Womens’ Day

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Bar Association celebrated Womens’ day with the theme “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”, at the court premises here March 8.

The programme began with an invocation. Joint secretary Roopa welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by the Presiding Officer, Addl. Prl. Judge, Family Court, Savithri V Bhat by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering Judge Savithri said, “Earlier women were considered only for housework between the four walls. But now, women are shining in every field. Women work in every field and are respected in the society. At the same time, women are not safe in our country, we see and hear women and girls suffering a lot. We have lost humanity and become demons. We are addicted to the materialistic world which has led us to commit crimes.”

Savithri further said, “In our country, we have many laws for the protection of women but they have not been used in a proper manner. We have misused the laws. The laws have been implemented to provide justice, safety and security for all but some people misuse the law. Today should not be a womens’ day but should have been a Mothers’ day. When women will be respected and provided safety we can make this world a better place to live in.”

Addressing the gathering 1st additional district and Sessions Judge and president of the District Legal Services Authority Sharada said, “Today we all have achieved whatever we wanted, it is because of our parents. To be successful in life we should have a goal, and when we set the goal in life we have to work hard to achieve it. We should help those who did not get the opportunity to achieve their goal so that they too can achieve it. I wish all the beautiful women in this world a very happy Womens’ day.”

Addressing the gathering Presiding Officer, Labour Court, Nerale Veerabhadrayya Bhavani said, “The theme of this year Women’s’ day is “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”. The theme focusses in innovative ways. There are various laws for the protection of women but in spite of these laws, there are crimes against women. Participation of women in the Society is must but we women are always hesitant to participate in any events. We always try to achieve something, once we think that we are satisfied in life we will not be able to achieve more. When we get the opportunity to achieve something we should step out of our comfort zone and work hard. Men have now changed, they are giving women the chance to move forward. We need to utilize the opportunities and move forward in life. I wish all the women a very happy Women’s day.”

Prl District and Sessions Judge Kadlur Sathyanarayana Acharya speaking on the occasion said, “Sometimes we think that the celebrations are just a formality but it should not be like that. Every celebration has its own significance. Nowadays men have become very selfish and want to differentiate gender. That is the reason we are forced to celebrate such days. Sometimes we are losing our humanity. If every one of us does our part of work well there won’t be any crime. In olden days our mothers and grandmothers used to tell us stories of their life. But unfortunately now the population has increased many folds, our families have become nuclear. We have become so self-centred and it has made us harm others to get our work done. We should practise the moral values come down from our elders. Our children are following what we do. We need to respect women, without women it is not possible for anyone of us to come to this world. I wish all the women a very happy Womens’ day.”

Second Additional District and Sessions Judge B R Pallavi, Advocates Prafulla Prem, Zita Priya Moras, Rekha K, Pushpalatha U K and others were also present.
