Website Impact! Now MCC builds a Ramp for Easy Access to Building having Clinics

Mangaluru: Added to many blunders created by Mangaluru City Corporation while doing developmental work of Smart City projects, few days ago they went ahead with a project which had put many citizens, from seniors to youngsters in hardship and inconveniences. And that project was a wall recently built by MCC at Kadri, opposite to KFC which had totally blocked the easy access to a commercial building which houses many shops, including clinics of five doctors, an X-ray unit, a medical shop, a vegetable shop and others. Pertaining to this issue, Mangalorean.com had published an article dated 2 November (Ref: https://www.mangalorean.com/not-smart-mcc-building-a-wall-that-blocks-easy-path-to-shops-clinics-near-kadri/), and couple of days later, we are hearing good news that MCC has now built a ramp for easy access to the building.

Many had raised their anger when the wall was built, like one of the partner in the medical shop speaking to Team Mangalorean had said, “Mangaluru needs development and new infrastructure, but in the same manner, when projects are planned care should be taken whether the new plan or plans put others into hardship or inconveniences. This is what has happened here, by erecting a wall without giving us any notice, has made it hard for patients coming to see their doctors in this building. They are left with no option than to take a narrow lane, also take a number of steps (going down/coming up) in order to reach their gynecologist, orthopaedician or other physicians. We feel sad to see pregnant women and the seniors walk the steep steps/road to access the narrow path to the building, where the clinics are located. Those with bone-related problems are finding it hard to reach to the clinic in the building, since the easy access was blocked by the construction of this wall”.

A doctor in the building, Dr Leo Tauro who has a clinic in the building had said, “MCC told us that the wall was built as part of the developmental work under Smart City projects. However, neither the MCC officials nor our area corporator Ashok Kumar had approached us before the work started and now their bad planning has blocked the easy access to my clinic and other clinic in this building. But one should appreciate the promise kept by area ward corporator Ashok Kumar D K who had said that a ramp to facilitate the movement of the people between the building and the front yard will be built soon for their convenience. A few of our readers had forwarded our article to the Corporator and also to many other officials in MCC, and even posted it on Facebook/Whatsapp/Twitter, to take quick action.

Before…..

Maria R M who visits her orthopeadician twice a week who had earlier spoken to Team Mangalorean and had said, “This is terrible to walk all these steps to reach the road, and also a steep road which connects a narrow passage in order to reach my doctor. Why doesn’t our officials think twice before they do such a silly work, putting us into inconveniences. I have to bring my daughter-in-law every time I visit my doctor, as I need someone to climb these steps now. Hope the MCC officials will do some changes to their existing plan, and provide us a easy access to the building”.

……………….After

This morning the same elderly person, Maria R M had called and thanking Team Mangalorean said, “Although I don’t know how to use the computer, but my daughter-in-law had said that you had mentioned my complaints in your website, for which I am grateful. Yesterday when I went to see my doctor, I was happy to see a ramp, which is still not completed, but is usable to walk, and first thing I thought was Mangalorean.com for highlighting the issue. Today my D-I-L insisted that I call and thank Mangalorean.com for the all good work they do in highlighting civic issues that are haunting the citizens of Mangaluru, and putting them in hardship and danger of lives. Thank You to everyone at Mangalorean.com for doing a wonderful job in this regard. You will all be blessed abundantly”

It is happy to note that a ramp is built and will be put in use soon, so that everyone, including seniors, middle-age and youngsters, will have an easy access, either to see their doctors, or buy medicines from the medical shop, or fruits/vegetables from the vegetable shop, and other businesses. All the trouble taken by people in reaching these various shops, by climbing the rocks ( make-shift steps) earlier, will pretty soon have the easy convenience and access to the said building by using the safe and easy Ramp. Thanks to MCC, Corporator Ashok, and whoever was responsible for this quick action. That’s what you call “WEBSITE WEBSITE!”
