Annual Feast of Our Lady of Health, Velankanni Shrine, Kalmadi to be celebrated on August 15
Udupi: The Velankanni Shrine at Kalmadi is set to celebrate its annual feast on August 15, with the theme “Mary, Queen of Hope.” As part of the preparations, a nine-day novena will be held from August 6 to 14, with daily Masses and special prayers in the evenings.
The novena will be inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Alban D’Souza, Rector of St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur, Karkala, on August 6 at 3:45 PM. Each day of the novena will feature special prayers for devotees, married couples, benefactors, youth, priests and religious, the elderly, the sick, and families. A procession of the statue of Our Lady of Velankanni will take place on August 10 (Sunday) at 3:00 PM, starting from Kalmadi Bridge, flagged off by Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General of the Udupi Diocese.
On the feast day, August 15, the main festive Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, led by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of the Diocese of Udupi. Additional Masses will be held at 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM in Konkani, and at 6:00 PM in English.
