Boloor Ward Corporator & Residents Extend Warm ‘Welcome Home’ Gesture to Duo (a 62-year-old man P-579 and his 11-year-old granddaughter P-674) COVID-19 Survivors

Mangaluru: On April 29, two more cases of coronavirus positive were detected, and it was confirmed that these two people had contracted the deadly virus from patients at First Neuro Hospital. The two patients were a 69-year-old man from Bantwal and another 62-year-old man from Boloor. The 69-year-old man was the relative and the neighbour of the woman who died due to coronavirus infection on April 19. The 62-year-old man was the husband of the woman from Boloor who was tested positive for coronavirus on April 30.

When this senior citizen was tested positive for COVID-19, all the family members were taken to Wenlock Hospital for check-up and quarantine- and the man’s daughter and son-in-law and their daughter were quarantined at the Wenlock COVID hospital. The couple’s 11-year-old daughter was admitted to the Wenlock hospital on May 6. As the country continues to struggle with rising cases, a ray of hope is still left among people. In a recent example, this duo coronavirus survivors from Boloor, Mangaluru received a grand welcome from the residents.

Even though the 62-year-old lost his wife and this 11-year-old girl lost her grandmother, due to COVID-19, but good news in their absence, the Boloor residents, have won️ the battle against COVID-19. Both the 62-old-man and the 11-year-old girl were discharged today, May 20 after recovering from COVID-19 symptoms- the Boloor area corporator Jagdeesh Shetty and the residents from the sealed down Boloor area planned a warm welcome with words of support, for the duo when they arrived home. After their home was thoroughly sanitized, they both moved into the house, to the loud clapping and cheering from the neighbours.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Corporator Shetty said, “It was a very sensitive, inspiring and emotional moment to all the neighbours, that our little girl and her grandfather who got recovered from COVID-19, have reached back their home. The Neighbours showered their love by welcoming as a gesture of humanitarian respect, which made the elderly man break down in tears after getting so much love and respect and positive energy from his neighbours.

This gesture by the Boloor people to the duo coronavirus survivors also created awareness among the residents that patients who recover are free of the virus and should not be harassed or victimized. It was nice to note that Mangaloreans also showed this kind of gesture towards COVID-19 survivors, since elsewhere in the country, too, those who recovered are being welcomed back to their homes very warmly. Neighbours welcoming the survivors have been reported from various parts of the country, and Boloor-Mangaluru will now be added to the list.
