Mangaluru: The district jail which had earned a bad name for all kinds of unpleasant incidents in the past has earned another tag.
Earlier it used to be fights between inmates. On Friday, there was another angles with two wardens getting into a physical scuffle right in front of the jail superintendent.
Warden Santosh Rathod had gone into the chamber of the superintendent to get a signature for a ration card record.
Chakresh Kumar, another warden, is said to have arrived there and began assaulting Santosh. He has told the superintendent that while it was between inmates, now a colleauge himself had assaulted him.
He added that it was difficult to discharge his duties in an atmosphere of that kind.
Superintendent Krishnamurty has said that he would take appropriate action within his jurisdiction after a proper inquiry.
There are rumours that at the time of the double murder that took place a few months ago, Santosh Rathod had allowed carrying of lethal weapons into the premises.
Interestingly, all that led to the incident was that one of the wardens gave a stare to the other, which is the exact cause of several fights in the past among the inmates.
