Local Resident Dies in Wild Elephant Encounter in Kokkada
Belthangady: A tragic incident occurred in Kokkada on July 17th at Sautadka Gundi, resulting in the death of a local resident. Balakrishna Shetty of Sautadka was fatally injured in an encounter with a wild elephant early in the morning.
Reports indicate that two elephants were sighted within a cashew plantation in the Sautadka Gundi area. Forest department officials were dispatched to the location following these reports. While authorities were attempting to guide the elephants away from the plantation, one of the animals reportedly turned and attacked Mr. Shetty, who was in the vicinity. The elephant struck Mr. Shetty with its trunk, inflicting critical injuries that led to his death at the scene.
The forest department is currently investigating the incident.
