Udupi: Dacoits lock up Family in Bedroom, Loot House

Udupi: A gang of dacoits, armed with lethal weapons, locked the family in the bedroom and looted their house at Aroor in  Bramhavar here on February 8.

The incident happened at the house of Sandesh, who was residing with his family in Aroor, Bramhavar.


According to Sandesh (28), on February 8, night a man came to Sandesh’s house and knocked on the door, asking for medicine. Sandesh peeping through the window asked the person to come on February 9 morning, but the man again requested Sandesh to provide him space in his compound to stay overnight.

Sandesh opened the main door and came out to provide him a place on the portico. At that time someone hit Sandesh on the head with a rod, another person tried to assault him with a Machete which luckily hit the pole in the house. Later they caught hold of Sandesh in the neck and took him inside the house. The gang locked Sandesh, his wife and child in a room and took away gold ornaments, mobile phones, electric stove, laptops and Rs 18,000 in cash kept in the almirah.

They attacked the victim’s family and threatened to kill them if they reveal about the incident to the police. They later locked them up in the bedroom and fled.

A case has been registered in Bramhavar police station and investigation is on.
