Youth Arrested for Reckless Scooter Wheeling on Public Road in Kundapur
Kundapur: Traffic Police have apprehended a young individual for engaging in hazardous scooter wheeling on a public thoroughfare. The arrest follows an investigation triggered by video evidence of the incident.
The individual taken into custody has been identified as Pouzan Ahmed. Authorities further revealed that Mr. Ahmed is also implicated in a separate case involving an attempted house break-in within the Byndoor jurisdiction.
The investigation began on the evening of March 26th, when Police Sub Inspector-2 Mrs. Sudha Prabhu of the Kundapur Traffic Police Station received communication from the district wireless control room. The relayed information pertained to an incident that occurred on March 20th, between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. During this period, an individual riding a scooter with registration number KA47A6941 was observed performing wheelies on a public road.
Verification of the provided video footage corroborated the report. The footage depicted a rider on a blue rental scooter traveling along National Highway 66, specifically on the Byndoor–Udupi one-way stretch. The direction of travel was from Hemmadi towards Kundapur. The rider, identifiable by his attire of a black full-sleeve T-shirt and grey pants, was demonstrably not wearing a helmet, violating established traffic regulations.
The video evidence clearly showed the rider executing wheelies and various other stunts at high speed. According to investigating officers, this reckless and dangerous operation posed a significant threat to both human life and public property.
Consequently, a formal case has been registered at the Kundapur Traffic Police Station under Crime No. 30/2026. The charges levied against Mr. Ahmed include violations of Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as Sections 184, 129, read with 194D of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act (IMV Act). Following the case registration, law enforcement officials promptly arrested the accused youth. The investigation remains ongoing.
