FINDING LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS!

  • “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything “- Plato once said.

Mangaluru: We can all think of one song that, when we hear it, transports us to another place. When the lockdown was announced I was ecstatic at the thought of no school, but my enthusiasm soon died down as, even though our exams got cancelled and our school would not be reopening soon, I was stuck at home!
Being locked up is what inspired me to work on my music more which lead me to do something else…….One day as I was going through my social media I read about people, children especially drawing or painting rainbows to cheer up our frontline warriors who have seen the horrors of the coronavirus first hand and I decided to paint something to encourage them. So I put my earphones on and got to work. Now listening to music while painting is my favourite thing to do.

Music inspires me which improves my art……and my singing. Singing is what brings me joy. When I really feel a song I feel so many emotions. I recently got an opportunity to sing in a song -Meri Mati -alongside 24 other singers It will always be one of my most treasured memories.

All of my talents are intertwined with each other because of these emotions. Listening to music inspires me to paint, and then put my emotions on the canvas, when I paint, well I can’t explain the emotions I feel then which makes me want to sing. For me singing isn’t just about practice and performance, it’s way to express my emotions so even if there’s no one listening or if there a few people around I will sing a song at the top of my lungs or hum a tune under my breath because there some things you just can’t find the words to say and the right tune, the right lyrics or even painting if you look at it the right can say just the right things.

So when I think about it my MUSIC and ART are the light for me in this dark time, my light in the darkness.
