MP Nalin Kumar Kateel Reacts for Filing FIR against BJP MLAs in Gerosa School Issue

Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel condemned the filing of an FIR against two BJP MLAs in the Gerosa school issue, on February 14.

Addressing the media persons MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “In the Gerosa School, the teacher insulted Lord Rama and Hinduism and the MLAs reacted to it. Instead of suspending the teacher, a case was registered against MLA Vedavyas Kamath and MLA Bharat Shetty for joining hands with the public to protest against it. Congress is following the double standards which the BJP condemns”.

Nalin further said, “When the parents started to protest against the teacher for insulting Lord Rama and Hinduism, our MLAs visited the School premises to know the reality. The MLAs brought this issue to the notice of the CM and other concerned authorities. BJP is not using this issue as vote bank but Congress is playing politics with this issue. If I was in town, I too would have joined the parents and students to fight against the issue”.

Nalin also said, “Leaders must know the reality, but a case has been registered against the legislators who were present on the spot to provide moral support to the public. Even the education officer who took legal action against the teacher was transferred even though the issue is under investigation. This is bad politics by Congress for the vote bank. Earlier during the Mulki Sundar Ram Shetty road renaming issue, the students of Aloysius protested by blocking the road. But no case was registered against them. But when our MLAs joined the parents and students to protest against the teacher of Gerosa school, an FIR was registered against them. We will fight against the Congress for their Anti-Hindu policy”.

“What happened in the school was not a Congress-BJP or a Hindu-Christian fight. Parents protested against injustice to their children. MLAs have come to support the parents and children to get justice. We demand that the cases against the MLAs be withdrawn and the transfer of the DDPI be revoked. The teacher has hurt the students by insulting Lord Rama. We have not used this issue for political gains but Congress is playing politics for vote bank”, alleged Nalin.
