I know Sheila Veigas’s family closely as we grew up together as they were our neighbors in Karkala. Sheila was extremely talented and was very much compassionate towards animals and nature. Even when she lived in Dubai, we were very closely associated with her. It is indeed sad to hear the news of her illness through her brother Manohar, who is my classmate, but I must admire the courage this girl demonstrated and the support rendered to her by her loving daughter Jadyn and her ever smiling husband Joseph. We have fond memories of the time we spent together in Dubai and I continue to pray to God to create one miracle in Sheila’s life and once again I can call her our childhood time “Shilam”

  • From Truth Seeker on Cruise Ship Group Experience the 'Filth and Stink' of Local Toilets

Surprised to see lack of planning on the part of tour operators. They seem to be as lousy as the ones at these tourist places!! When you are taking several dozen foreign tourists around the city, I would expect a some homework in advance to ensure that there are clean toilets and other facilities available at the location? Oh well.. Coming to the main topic – The entire India smells and feels like one big open toilet. Sorry for being harsh here. One of the biggest slum is literally next to Mumbai international airport. Our mangalore is not too far behind. The hampanakatta and townhall areas are some of the filthiest areas I can think of. As far as cleanliness campaign goes, have you seen any of our elected reps in those weekly events organized by Monks (with the exception of Capt.Karnik)?

Yet another important topic highlighted by Alfie to bring awareness about having clean toilets in India, also Mangalore. Just look at the pathetic condition of the toilet that has been portrayed in this report- could you imagine that anyone will use this toilet-no way. The Jain community is a well to do community- so they should see that the temples/sight seeing places are clean in their hometown. Kudos to you Alfie and Mangalorean.com for always highlighting such issues-that’s what non-bias journalism should be-Cheers!

I have been noticing that our Govt. is really spending first for the wrong things. A beautifull gate for kadri park, a musical fountain, then a rope way bridge which had started and died till sultan battery and finally a planetarium in pilicula.!! All this necessary but toilets first. its a shame when we have tourists from abroa and they are made to see shitty toilets.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Cruise Ship Group Experience the 'Filth and Stink' of Local Toilets

Thank you, Mr. Alfie D’Souza, for your frank and candid remarks on the importance of providing clean toilets, wash rooms, restaurants and tourist spots for visiting foreign tourists, specially from the visiting Cruise ships. This is also a great reflection on the Port of Mangalore, where we are told that we have four berths available for cruise ships alone. Cruise ships visiting any port has a great advantage for not only the local port but also the local tourist attractions including shopping and restaurants. Unless and until we have clean roads, clean transport facilities, clean restaurants and also clean tourist sports, the Cruise owners themselves will discourage visiting any port so that the passengers do not carry any kind of virus or disease with them due to lack of proper sanitation facilities. Tourism is a “package” where the Tourism Department is closely knitted with the local authorities so that more and more tourists visit Mangalore and avail of all the touristic facilities that are available for them. Cleanliness is “Godliness” to all the foreign tourists visiting Mangalore and India. Foreigners are very sensitive to unclean water, unclean food, and even unclean toilet facilities. Foreigners are very allergic to even bad odors, and even to any flies or mosquitos. Please, please therefore listen carefully and give the best priority towards cleanliness in everything that you contemplate not only for the benefit and safety of the tourists, but ourselves who live in Mangalore. Let some of the Tourist authorities visit some of the foreign countries and see to themselves some of the most hygienic precautions they take in order to maintain good health and good environment. Thank you for your understanding.

Vinod Khanna would have been a much famous actor if he had not followed Bhagwan Rajneesh and then gone to America where this Godman set up an Ashram in Oregon, which was named as Rajneeshpuram. Before leaving for America, this Godman said that he hated India. In Oregon, he got a massive place where he set up his Ashram, but the people of adjoining communities complained to the authorities, who arrested him, disrobed him of his multi-million dollar diamond studded robe and made him to wear a prison garb. The cops may have given him a good tanning and squeezed him here-and-there, because he hated America and returned to India with his tail between his legs.

Congratulations to you, dear Fr. Onil D’Souza, on your completion of twenty five years as a Priest. Your devotion and your dedication as a priest is well admired and appreciated. Your love for the needy and the poor is well demonstrated with your untiring work at St. Anthony’s Ashram where the inmates will always remain grateful to you and will remember you in their daily prayers. Dedication towards the needy and the elderly in an Ashram such as St. Anthony’s is a task that is not simple but filled with daily concerns and anxieties to give the very best to those who are sick and many are helpless, and they live away from their home and are at the mercy of the Institution. Your leadership and your selfless dedication is therefore deserving God’s continuous help and blessings. We shall pray for you, and we wish you continued good health at all times.

We don’t need a modern-day version of ‘blasphemy’ rules to protect fragile ego of our elected leaders. We should be able to ignore and move on as long as there is no direct threat or call for violence.

Kudos to Mangalorean.com & Mr Alfie D’souza for highlighting this issue. I have raised this issue many times. What happens at the Junction railway station is nothing but organized loot. I have experienced similar things at Central station too at odd hours from 11 pm & 5 am, etc. The auto drivers just gherao you menacingly. I was once charged Rs. 150 from Central railway station to Falnir Avery Junction. The problem with Junction railway station is that it is in no man’s land and hence ideal for fleecing passengers. After several bad experiences, I always ensure that I am picked by a relative or friend from this dreaded railway station. Hope the City Administration and Police take some steps to resolve this issue.

Hi David, If you look at our detailed email sent to the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner which has been reproduced by Mangalorean.com which gives one the background of the issue..The Asst . Municipal Commissioner is misleading the facts of the case. First of all, there is a Supreme Court judgement on removing illegal religious structures which are on public land or encroached. This Cross is on private land with a history of 122 years existence. The BMC gives a blind eye to illegal structures and encroachments and does not provide efficient services to the citizens like garbage clearance , water supply etc. It is unfortunate that it had all the resources to target an Innocent Cross.

This has been on my mind for a long long time now. The Auto drivers attitude at Mlore (Not all) is next to the rowdyism. Am a Mangalorean and would not speak Tutu, that does not make me less mangalorean. They demand excess and is un-justifiable. I travel regularly from Bangalore to Mangalore and am faced with this problem. In a month i travel thrice and having to pay a min of 200 to 300 Rs for 5 kms is insane. The OLA cab is not allowed to come near the station causing trouble to the taxi driver as the autowalla feels he is loosing his income. If they charge fairly am sure lot of people would love to use their services. I just wish this rowdy attitude is changed and the authorities come up with a solution. Visit the cities junction station and you will see how they gang up. Whats happening to our people. Where is humanity and society. Why are we looting eachother.

It is so pleasing and satisfying to note from a long distance that we have active volunteers scattered all over the place in and around Mangalore that help to keep the place clean and neat, and also helps maintain order and discipline wherever and howsoever possible. Having said all that, it is also obvious that some of the major decisions should come from the Commanding authorities who guide the destiny of our exemplary city. Make no mistake, that each and every good deed along with the bad deed is being closely witnessed by our City Fathers and City Mothers, and our beloved Mayor is also included in the scenario. In a country of democracy, each every move takes time and patience. Implementation of any rule needs cautious approach so that we keep everyone satisfied in order to enjoy the desired order and discipline. Let the slow process bring the desired result sooner or later. Volunteerism is an act that should always stand behind the leadership. That volunteerism will keep the leadership strong and vibrant. Volunteerism has a dual face of patience and perseverance, and time alone will bring the desired progress in a City that has earned so good a name. This is how we feel from a long distance while the spirit of volunteerism should continue and our Mayor deserves all the moral and physical support in order to achieve her objectives that benefit the vibrant City of Mangalore

Dear Mr. Drona, Nice to hear from you and your communication has been at length and has given me snippets of information about various personalities. Many, many thanks. Any information on Mr. Alfred J. Rebello, who used to come with arguments that were preposterous, out-of-this-world and amateurship? I used to enjoy Arnab Goswami’s programmes at 09.00 and 10.00 p.m., because he would lampoon panelists regardless of their position and stature. Another knowledgeable person is Mr. Maroof Raza, the Defence Analyst and ex-Major in the Army. It appears that Mr. Goswami speaks to students of journalism annually at a famous institution and I watched that and one earlier programme. I learnt that he desperately wanted to interview and grill Mr. Arvind Kejriwal and Times Now’s Management refused and he was not allowed to enter his office for two days. He resigned and I heard him saying that he would start his own television channel called “Patriot Television”, but I have yet to come across it. He was the most highly paid anchor in the country. Mr. Anand Narasimhan, Mr. Rahul Sreekumar, Ms. Tanvi Shukla and Ms. Naveeka Kumar are good. Another anchor that I admire is Mr. Rahul Kunwar, who grilled that Pakistan run-of-the-mill strategist and tactician, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who was appointed the Army Chief by Mr. Nawab Sharif (in spite of poor military record) and rest, as you know, is history. Ms. Barkha Dutt is not in NDTV anymore and they used to say that she had pro-Congress leanings and made irresponsible comments during the Kargil War, which Gen. Musharraf keeps on parroting. All Pakistani Generals, Defence Analysts, etc. have proved with facts that Kargil crisis was hatched by this general, along with three other generals and everyone else were kept in the dark, i.e. Service Chiefs, Corps Command (please note that Pakistan does not have Army Commands that are found in countries having large Armies and territories). Mr. Kannaiya Kumar, that fellow from Begusari, Bihar, was interviewed by Ms. Barkha Dutt and she gave him a clean chit. I have written at length and have to stop here. You can be in touch with me on: lesterlpearson@gmail.cam. P.S. After 2010, when the Anna Hazare movement started, I had read a book by Mr. Kejriwal called “Swaraj” and later I followed his utterances and was happy when AAP won 67 seats in February 2015. This man is a rabble rouser, liar, Naxalite and Maoist sympathizer. He is the right material to be a rabid union leader.

Dear Mr Lewis, Nice to see you again with full force. I am not sure about Mr B N Pai as I have not seen any unabashed Cong I sycophancy of late on this forum. As far as A S Matthew is concerned I think he contributes rarely especially when BJP manages to lose some election unexpectedly or loses some seats in an unknown muncipality. Regarding Mr Original Pai, I understand he is engrossed in seeking nothing but truth. Regarding Praveen, he must be busy collecting water as Mangalore taps have run dry even though Mayor Kavitha Sanil wants Mangaloreans to believe that the water supply is uninterrupted. I am not sure if she is referring to the watering of the eyes of poor Mangaloreans. It is true that change in format of EYT has succeeded in dissuading some EYT enthusiasts. Sheikh Md saab contributes on and off. No one seems to know his views on Triple Talaq or anti national elements brewing muschief in Kashmir. Kashmir by the way is the parting gift of that gov gen whose wife was romantically linked to that emotional fool of a PM called Nehru. He mounted a huge burden on the subsequent generations by his follies. We do.miss Arnab Goswamy who entertauned ys and the nation wants to know why Times let him go. Did they part with him wilfully? Obama’s achievements need to be updated. The ex-President is delivering speeches to Wall Street banksters at $400,000 a pop. Members of the cult of personality worship were in denial for eight years. “Trying to determine Barack Obama’s most corrupt, crony appointee presents a virtually impossible task. Every single person he’s appointed to a position of power over the course of his unfathomably shady, violent and unconstitutional presidency, has been little more than a gatekeeper for powerful vested interests. Obama’s job was to talk like a marxist, but act like a robber baron. In this regard, his reign has been an unprecedented success.”

Mr. Drona, Mr. S.M. Krishna is in his eighties and should have stuck up with Congress or retired to spend time with his family members and friends. I was surprised that he quit Congress to join BJP and the latter accepted him, though he has been over-the-hill and is a spent-force. Netas are a strange species. Whatever decisions they take are not based on right or wrong or black and white, but with ulterior motives or for party unity or image.

Mr. Roy, You appear to be an amateur and I have taken your comments with a pinch of salt. Congress had an uninterrupted rule from 2004 to 2014 and could have ruled even after that, if they had been concerned about people, nipped corruption in the bud and done something for the people. I am not a sympathizer of any political party and consider all politicians to be corrupt. Dr. Manmohan Singh used to be in utter state of slumber and kindly read, “Dr. Manmohan Singh: An Accidental Prime Minister,” by Sanjay Barru. Now, you will also accuse him, a man who had a bird’s eye view, of being a Congress-basher. Would any Prime Minister worth his salt allow anyone to select his Principal Secretary, who was leaking all information to a person who had no educational background, other than being married into a powerful family. While leaving office, he had the audacity to say something like this, “I hope history will judge me kindly.” I do not know how history will judge him, but as far as I am concerned, he is the worst Prime Minister till date. As a Finance Minister he did well, because he was not treated like a puppet, but given the complete freedom by P.V. Narasimha. What are your comments about the mess the Gandhi family have fallen into? Robert Vadra, whose family used to sell imitation jewellery, thanks to be patronage he received used to behave like Lord Falkland. People did not vote for B.J.P., because they were in love with them, but simply because they were totally fed up with Congress and U.P.A. misrule. There were plenty of scams: A. Raja, Suresh Kalmadi, etc., Pakistani troops beheading Indian soldiers and Dr. Singh sending choicest mangoes and sweets to his counterpart. Has Singh the charisma to attract even a hobo or fakir. I used to think that whatever his failings, he is a honest man. However, the Italian Court judgement says that he even received bakseesh. What explanations you have to offer about this, my friend? Make it convincing and do not beat-around-the-bush.

Though, I am not well-versed with the Karnataka politics, I know that Yeddyurappa has a very bad image. In 2007, he had been to Bahrain with a retinue and one guy in his entourage, whose name I cannot recollect looked like a Charlie Chaplain. Oh, his birdie was also there and from the print media, I saw her pictures laughing and grinning like a Cheshire cat. I did not go to see him, but there were quite a lot of Mangaloreans and other pseudo-social workers (who always fight for honours and awards), present to felicitate him. I consider most Indian politicians to be totally corrupt and rotten and when the elections come, the choice for the voters is limited to selecting one from those who are lesser evils. A time has come when parties give tickets to candidates, the same needs to be approved by the masses. It is high time that people power comes to the fore. With people power, a lot can be achieved and even mountains moved and politicians made to work for people and interact with people.

Today, I happened to follow on the Youtube the ten most corrupt politicians in India and the names make an interesting read and four or five of them are from Congress, including the fellow who used to blink like an owl and chirp like a sparrow. The other fellow is considered as Sardar of Corruption, though presently not in the Congress, and just yesterday, the Indian Express was interviewing him and he was telling Shekhar Gupta about the pluses and minuses of both Narendra Modi. When I saw this interview I had a mighty laugh, because it was like a gentleman asking a criminal what does he think of Mr. A, Mr. B and so on. A seasoned journalist like Shekhar Gupta knows the integrity of this man and how corrupt he is. So, why waste time in interviewing him.

Mr Lobo, you are talking about garages operating on roadsides. First of all I have requested your office some time back and I have requested Local Corporator Sabitha Misquith, previous 2 Police Commissioners office, ACP.DCP and Inspectors regarding Garage near Sandesha,(near Nanthoor Circle). How many close calls are coming at that spot with container trucks changing lane. Speeding highway vehicles are suddenly changing lanes when they reach the spot when they see parked vehicle halfway into the lane. Second one is KPT Circle near Kadri Police Station where Ganesh Vehicles are parked while washing-repairing these Buses on side of Highway lane, How about buses being washed on Balmatta-Kankanady near Petrol Bunk and Post Office. How many Senior Citizens got washed along with Buses. I am feeling insulted when I see Doctors and Highly Educated Wealthy People parking their SUV and High-end cars under the ” NO PARK” Board which were installed by Me at my cost. For example:I have installed 3 boards between City Hospital and Tejaswini Hospital at the request of Traffic Police. The public can have a look every day about how many Vehicles are parked under and around them. MCC Authorities should be punished for giving NOC to these Hospitals without Parking for Clients. Why Mr.Lobo is not questioning MCC Corporators of the Ward. Note: DCP Mr. Patil, Please Instruct the Traffic Police to take severe action on Water Tankers which overfill the Tanks and Spill water on Pedestrian and Bikers. My car was hit by a Biker who tried to avoid the spilling water.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on The only 'One-Way' Solution for Traffic Woes in City - MLA Lobo

Congestion and commotion caused by the ever-increasing traffic is a chronic problem in every city and in every country. Particularly in the developing world, while the population is growing faster than the developed world, the narrow roads look narrower than before and regardless how many police men and women are kept controlling the traffic on the roads, the situation will remain uncontrollable. Some of the immediate ways to control the traffic is the following:- a) At least, once or twice a week when the road traffic is more, try and convert the dual traffic in the major city area make the dual roads into a “one way” traffic. By so doing, let the outgoing traffic find their way to move outward without getting into the city. b) Wherever possible, specially at Hampankatte area, try and create a bride overhead so that the pedestrians, specially the young crowd can use the overhead bride for walking across without disturbing the road traffic. For older people climbing the overhead bridge may not be possible, and for them give a “Senior Citizen” status to walk on the ground level for crossing. c) Creating parking area in the outskirts of the City so that people visiting the city for parking do not have to come to the inner city with their vehicles but park in the parking lot for a payment on hourly basis. d) If possible and if feasible, avoid any parking of vehicles alongside the road. Utilize that space for additional traffic to go thru. There should be no parking alongside the road anywhere in and around Hampankatte. The market road should be strictly for pedestrians walking and no traffic whatsoever including for the rickshaws. e) Violation of any traffic should be punishable by issuing traffic tickets with stringent penalty. The police force should be empowered to maintain absolute discipline. f) This is the time to plan a “mono rail” system in Mangalore with Light Rail Transit facility. Earlier we plan would be to our advantage. g) If ever possible, please shift the existing fish market, vegetable market as well as meat market away from the existing City location to an outskirt area. These 3 markets cause lot of inconvenience for traffic movement. Times are tough and the decisions are delicate, but this is the time to plan, and plan with a serious determination in the interest of the people and the City in the short run and also long run.

Educated and highly qualified Indians have gone to various countries and with their work and enterprise done the country proud. They are intelligent, hard working, most of them are honest and law abiding. Sadly, the netas and Indian National Congress, set up or established by an upbright British I.C.S. officer is the most corrupt right from top to bottom. This party has become a personal fiefdom of the Gandhi family and though it is in a bad shape, the family wants to control it, rather than they relinquishing their grip and having democratic elections to have the right people for all important positions. When I see the likes of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Laloo Prasad, Mayawati, Karunanidthi and others, I wonder how the well educated I.A.S. and I.P.S. and officials work under these sleazy characters. Is it because they derive job satisfaction in carrying out their masters’ biddings or because……? Many of the netas have the looks of goons and other undesirables. As regards Rahul Gandhi, one comedian asked, “Who is the best child artist in .the country?” I believe you got the answer.

Yes, in terms of population and resources, India was the largest colony in the British Empire (Australia territory-wise) and when, those days, an Englishman finished his education and was keen and adventurous to seek overseas employment, they would fill up in the form where it was mentioned “The country where you prefer to seek employment.” Most of them would write opting for India. Just a year ago, Shashi Tharoor, whom I consider to be the best orator in English amongst netas. spoke to an assembled audience at Cambridge University about the adverse effects British rule had on India. Even in 1970s and 1980s, I had interaction with British and I found them to suffer from “Raj” mentality. Job-seekers who filled the form did not do it because they were fond of India, but they knew they would get good government jobs, bungalows, retinue of servants, memberships to clubs and plethora of other privileges. Frankly speaking, Great Britain emasculated India and made it poor. Before British came and ruled India, she had a healthy economy and artisans were producing and exporting lots of things. Sir Winston Churchill is undoubtedly a great war-time leader, who did a lot for Great Britain. However, he was a rascist.

The slogan: “Home away from Home” is frequently preached and practiced by Indians wherever they go and whatever they do. Indians proudly carry their cultural, religious and social heritage wherever they go and establish themselves in their career or educational establishment all over the world. Recent statistics indicate that there are more than thirty million Indians scattered all over the world in different Continents. They somehow manage to establish themselves well by blending with other cultures, and at the same time they make themselves united with their own community and celebrate their “Desi” traditions in their mother tongue or their native displays thru their attires, food, music and much more, including the language. England has always been a well established country for Indians who have migrated to England much before Great Britain even gave us the Independence. Indians got well educated in England long time ago and got themselves well entrenched with local cultures, patterns and traditions too. Great Britain also has embraced Indians whole-heartedly in their country because Indians have made a very positive contribution in England in every step of the way. The establishment of India House in England is a classic example. All said and done, Mangaloreans celebrating Easter festival in England is noteworthy. Celebrating the Easter Eucharistic rituals with the help of a Mangalorean priest from France needs lot of organization and planning. We have lived one solid year in England, and we know truly well how patriotic it is to be a patriotic Indian in a country that considered India as a largest British Colony of the world that was liberated seventy years ago, and a country that has remained very closely and satisfactorily knitted with England. May God bless all the Indians living in England, and may they continue to remain a living example to the rest of the world as to how we need to integrate with the English traditions and customs and our “home away from home” a reality that is true and amazing.

  • From Selwyn Crasto on KMC Hospital Attavar organises Cancer Survivors meet and Cancer Quiz competition

I hope people pay attention to what Dr. Krishna Prasad had said. “Dr Krishna Prasad said that early detection of cancer increases its probability of cure and knowing that a person has cancer should not be the end of hope for the person; rather they should concentrate on enhancing the quality of life and do everything the person dreams of, so that he/she forgets the thought of cancer which will have a positive impact on the entire treatment process.” This is not just advice given by an oncologist but it has been proven to work for many cases. Also strictly follow only what the Dr. advises. Once diagnosed with cancer …..everyone around you becomes an expert though they have no first hand experience or clue of what they promote. Your what’s app messages get filled with remedies, cures, and locations to visit (from Tibet to Hubbali, to Shivamoga,……..and the list goes on.). If the people fighting cancer tried al these “sure to work” remedies and even wanted to try them there would not be enough time in a day to consume all these concoctions from tree bark to two kilo carrots to wheat germ to……….. Most important the fighter and their families are not looking for your sympathy. Visit them like you would visit any other friend or relative. Another common question asked to the fighting family is “what stage is he/she on”. Does it really concern us what stage. A stage is only a step for the doctors to follow a certain treatment regimen. A lot of people think that “oh stage one…..nothing will happen or Oh My God stage four……did the doctor say how long does he have”. People you are wrong in this evaluation of stages. Like all people alive, no one knows when our time will come. Thank you Team Mangalorean for covering such an important event which has been ignored by other online sites and event the English print media. Human waste, and the waste collection, treatment and disposal is a technology as important and as valuable as any other Technology for the growth and survival of mankind. The education and training attached to this Waste treatment and disposal is as important as any other Education in pursuit of human progress and survival. India is growing in population every day, and India has been blessed with some of the finest intelligent people in every segment of our society. Major Cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Calcutta and New Delhi and many others are managed with the daily life of mankind with a decent supply of power, water, sanitation, and many other amenities of life. We are ever growing, and therefore we need more and more experts to safeguard our nation with the best possible precautions of cleanliness and sanitation so as to avoid any major diseases that can wipe out our entire population. India’s wise men and women also need training and education. Many times, our young men and women also need be trained abroad because there are many countries with lesser population but with greater trend of industrialization have researched their needs of waste water and waste sewage disposal and treatments. Major Cities, specially in America and Europe have researched and proved successful in some of the finest technologies of human waste disposal and sanitation treatments. It’s fascinating to witness some of the major investments they have exerted in the interest of human health and sanitation with clean water, clean air and even clean food. They are all inter related with the daily peaceful survival of mankind. Regardless of all the politics, we must therefore enable some of our young men and women to travel abroad and get some best education in the basic facts of waste collection, waste treatment and waste disposals. It all starts from the Municipalities of small towns and villages, and then it moves on major metropolitan cities where the consumption is more and obviously waste is also abundant. Our daily thought and prayer from a distance is always for daily good health added with daily peace and harmony. What else can we offer other than our good wishes for a healthy and clean environment back home with a hope for continuous growth and prosperity.

Truly disgusting state of affairs in our Bangaluru. As usual, our ‘stenographers’ and ‘politicians’ are busy complaining about ‘hate speech’ when someone points out truth!!

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Being married to best friend is beautiful: Bipasha

Being married to a best friend is certainly a “best gift” to be bestowed upon the happy couple. Nevertheless, in proposed marriages that even take place these days, you cannot make best a friend because you only meet your “best friend” on the day of your marriage where the first glimpse upon each other takes place. In the olden days (just 54 years ago) proposed marriages enabled the bride and the bridegroom to hardly meet with each other until the wedding took place. The prospective bridegroom could not even hold a prospective bride’s hand. There was no way even to go for a movie together, nor there was any opportunity to take the future bride for a coffee in a public or private Restaurant. Myself and my pretty bride were communicating with each other thru continuous letters for six years. Strange as it might sound, we were able to kiss each other only on the Wedding night. Even during the Wedding reception in the City of Mumbai the Master of Ceremonies could not think of any romantic moment to be displayed even after cutting the wedding cake. However, those were still the best days to remember and rejoice. Those were the sweet days to be proud of and remain grateful to God for all the blessings bestowed year after year for solid fifty four years. The happy days of friendship thru simple ways preached and practiced for 54 years and now bearing better fruit than ever before. “Al Hamdulillah”, we say in Arabic, and let the happy days prevail today, tomorrow and always.

Thank you, Salmia in Kuwait for being the role model in displaying the secular values so that people of Christian faith can celebrate the Feast of Easter in a grand scale with all the best of facilities that you have so kindly made available. The name Salmia is very dear to us because almost each month when we drove from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait by road via the Zarghani check post in the Neautral Zone, we used to pass thru Salmia first prior to our entering the busy City of Kuwait. What a great pleasure to witness the Easter celebrations and see so many hundreds of prosperous Indians celebrating their Easter with the best of choir and best of Indian audience. May God continue to give the best of peace and unity in Kuwait, and may the renowned Al Sabha family enjoy the continued blessings from God for their continued growth and prosperity in all their future plans and programs. Kuwait is a great City with some of the great people of all nationalities and backgrounds. Kuwait is indeed in a strategic location that has to continue demonstrating the beauty of peace and tranquility, and the world at large is watching this glamorous Sheikhdom with a whisper of prayer for continued peace and harmony. “Assalam Aleqhum” and Qudha Afez with a word of gratitude for Kuwait for a job well done.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on 1st in India 3D Planetarium at Pilikula to lift Mangaluru to International Level - MLA Lobo

What a fantastic news to realize that Mangalore will have a 3D Planetorium at Pilikula by September. This is certainly a beautiful flower on the bonnet of fast progressing Mangalore. Pilikula is the ideal place indeed so that when people visit Pilikula Zoo and other outdoor sight seeing, visit to Pilikula will be a great attraction to the growing public. Mangalore is certainly advanced in every aspect of our thoughts and imaginations. Mangalore has the dynamic society that will benefit a great deal from the Planetorium, and especially the younger generation will benefit the most. Hundreds of schools and colleges will find a reason to take their students to Pilikula in a group so that side by side they can also visit the 3D Planetorium. Most importantly, Mangalore now has a great crowd of elites and could easily afford to pay the required premium to get the admission. This is a benefit not only for Mangalore but also the neighboring states to send their younger generation to Mangalore. This is a added attraction for the rest of India as well. Thank you, Mr. Lobo, for all your initiatives. This is a right step in the way of progress for Mangalore. Let the people become the ultimate beneficiaries of the progressive world rightly available in their backyard, and let Mangalore be the forefront of advancement in our intellectual as well as social progress in every step of the way. We are proud, and we are very pleased indeed.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Falnir Health Centre- For Your Medical Needs All Under One Roof

Medical profession and medical dedication in India is an industry in itself. The population is growing and so also the pollution added with scarcity of clean water, clean air and clean environment. The government as well as the people are doing their very best towards all that is necessity but “not enough” is not a mere slogan but it is obvious. Added to all the above, the global warming as well as untimely rainfall can also have many repurcussions to human health and human welfare. The food production will also have an impact. God’s mercy and continued blessing could be the best hope for the people. Having said all that, having another Medical Center in Falnir is another additional flower on the bonnet of Mangalore. We deserve more and more medical clinics because health related issues are growing and also multiplying. Doctors and Nurses have a special role to play, and they have special blessings from God as well. May God help the new clinic with best of doctors and nurses. May the Clinic give the very best to the patients. Let the people get the best treatment at a reasonable cost. May God take good care of the Doctors and all the staff members because they reach and tough all those who in pain and ache, and they all need the best help thru the good hands of good doctors and nurses. May God bless this Institute ten fold.

Kuwait has always been on the forefront of all the athletic, theatrical, cultural as well as philanthropic activities amongst all the Persian Gulf countries where Indians have landed nearly hundred years ago and established themselves so well in all kinds of involvements. Indians in Kuwait have always earned the name and fame for their hard and honest work. Indians have always strived their best in all the duties and responsibilities that were entrusted to them, and therefore the Government of Kuwait has always been kind to the Indians who have lived in the Sheikhdom for many generations. We still remember when Bishop Stella of Kuwait amongst few other Christians amongst whom many were Indians who went to Vatican and brought the Statue of our Lady of Arabia several decades ago. Indians in Kuwait have created a landmark of progress and prosperity because of their honesty and integrity. We are happy to note that you had a nice Throw Ball championship, and that must have been one of the many performances that have taken place in Kuwait year after year. Our best wishes to one and all of you, and whenever we get a chance to visit Kuwait we shall always be delighted to do so. • From John Crasta on Christian Fraternity Observes Good Friday at Rosario Cathedral

Kindly permit me to express my views on Forgiveness of sins in the Old Testament and Redemption in the New Testament Some Christians have raised the issue of relevance of animal sacrifice in the present times and why we do not practice it anymore. To explain this we need to understand. A) Difference in forgiveness of sins in the Old Testament and New Testament. B) The meaning of the word “paradise” needs to be understood in context of what Jesus said in Luke 23:43. Following are my views on, a) In the Old Testament times though there was forgiveness of sins, THOSE WHO DIED IN GRACE DID NOT GO TO HEAVEN. They were placed in a place called paradise. The reason being the dominion of Satan could be broken by the blood of the Lamb that was to be shed on the cross. Only Blood of Lamb has redemptive value. It is worthwhile to know that sins were cast on a goat (not on Lamb) and sent into the desert as a food for desert demon (Lev 16:22) and not to Satan. b) We know that Jesus told the repentant thief “TODAY you will be in paradise with me (Luke 23:43). But we also know that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. It quite clear from this paradise in not in heaven, rather a place all the people who were worthy to enter heaven were placed in. This is so for God himself had willed that Jesus should be the first one to rise from the dead and He should be first in all things.(col 1:18-19) .Again in this context we must understand why Jesus said in Jn 6:46“ Nobody has seen the Father except the one who came from him” .Further it must be realised that Lord was the God to whom the animal sacrifices were offered. c) Meaning of redemption Satan is the ruler of the earth. Even though Jesus has defeated Satan by his death and resurrection on the cross he has been given some time( Rev20:3). Redemption means ransoming. Ransom was paid by way of the blood Jesus shed on the cross for the forgiveness of sins (Mat 26:28). Therefore the ransom(exit pass ) can be claimed only through forgiveness of sins by Jesus. In this lies the very message of salvation.(Luke 24:47) It is quite clear from the above animal sacrifices cannot atone for our sins anymore but only repentance and forgiveness in the name of Jesus can save us. Only the blood of Christ has redemptive value. Why must we forgive? God is almighty as such there cannot be more than one God. Religion is all about understanding God and there are irreconcilable differences in understanding God between religions. Nevertheless we all are children of the same God. Christian understanding is that we all must come to the knowledge of God’s love through Christ. (1 Timothy 2:1-5 Jn 3:16). When we get angry with somebody we either begin to hate that person or become fearful of him. Both these situations are bad and cause problems. But when we pray to Jesus to bless our enemy and give him good things in life he will set us free from hatred and fear and protect us. He will take upon Himself the problem. We must not forget that vengeance belongs to the Lord. (Romans 12:19 Deut 32:35). Jesus will give our enemy many opportunities to change him. This is why we very often think that wicked people get away with their sins. If he persists with his wickedness the Lord will take away all the graces from him (Psalm 51:11) and his heart will be hardened (Exodus 9:12) and our enemy will set himself on the path of self destruction like Pharaoh. Furthermore it is also important that we pray to our Guardian angel for protection. John Crasta

It’s not easy to change habits of a third world country. Otherwise, how do you explain the fact that a reputed business house and its urban, educated customers still have no basic understanding of using trash bin for used cups? If it takes media reporting and public shaming to make such a basic, simple change, imagine the challenge we have in making much bigger, complex changes.

But, why the title ‘ಅಮಾಯಕ’ when he had charges against him? “ಪೋಲೀಸರು ಯಾವುದೇ ಮುನ್ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡದೆ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನಾ ನಿರತ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮ್ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರ ಮೇಲೆ ಏಕಾಏಕೀ ಲಾಠಿಚಾರ್ಜ್…” So, PFI = ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮ್ ಸಂಘಟನೆ? If so, why the disguise of ‘People front’? By the way, this is no surprise for intelligent readers. It’s good to see an open admission on true nature of this organization. How come media and journalists don’t report on these obvious diversion tactics? The obsession of branding everything as ‘hate speech’ has effectively killed any meaningful journalism and free speech in our country.

  • From Truth Seeker on Making History! First of Its Kind 'Transgender's Day' Launched in Mangaluru

I can’t stress this enough – What you guys are doing is a historical work, bringing transgender community into mainstream and giving them the dignity they deserve. Your work and courage would be remembered for generations to come. This shows that India is not far behind from other progressive societies in embracing these universal values of respect and equal rights. This is another reason why we all need to work and fight even more to stop any type of religious, ideological and other regressive forces from taking over our society.

  • From Truth Seeker on Two arrested in Urwa ASI Aithappa Assault Case

I feel vindicated after seeing these reports. For very long, I have been pointing out unpleasant, dangerous growth of criminal elements on this forum. I repeatedly warned about the danger and called out deafening silence by media and political leadership in addressing the root cause. Some religious bigots attacked me as RSS-supporter even though I reject all religions. Hopefully, this unfortunate, brutal assault on an innocent police officer acts as an eye-opening lesson to all those individuals who refused to see the reality. I wish Police office Aithappa a quick and full recovery. Yes – our police dept is not perfect. But, we need them to keep us safe and maintain order. There is absolutely no justification for attacking police. You can’t engage in stone pelting and expect no action from Police. They are simply doing their duty. I remember a similar incident during BJP rule and police had to do lathi charge to disperse crowds engaged in stone pelting. Unfortunately, the entire incident was projected as an ‘attack on minorities’ by usual suspects. However, the same groups are not accusing the state govt now because congress is in power!! I’m highlighting this example to expose the double standards of certain groups who will see life only through the prism of religion and political party. Police dept is very important for a healthy, orderly society all over the world. I can’t imagine living in a society without a good police force. When they deal with troublemakers, we should support them. Hope this is a good lesson to those who are too afraid to see the reality or speak out. Truth always prevails.

  • From Henry James on Public Wi-Fi networks not Secure for Sensitive Data sharing or Transferring Funds - Annamalai

As long as the online transaction uses Secure Sockets Layer protocol – SSL (i.e. the url/website that you are using starts with https://), it does not matter whether one uses public wifi or private. SSL uses public key cryptography which is extreeeeeeeeeeeemly hard to break. But you have to ensure that the certificate being used by the browser for the transaction is valid. Chrome/IE normally warns you if it isn’t. It is another matter one has to be wary of using public internet kiosks to use secure transaction because those machines may have the malicious software installed such as key loggers, trojans etc. which can silently capture your bank account details, passwords etc. as you type. I personally don’t get concerned about using SSL-based websites from my smart phone to do banking whether I am using a public wifi or private. Also don’t be under the wrong impression that your private wifi is any more safe. If you google, there are many ways to hack your home wifi too. In fact most of the home routers have the default, factory set user name and password (which people are too lazy to change) which any man on the street can log in to and change the passphrase.

For animals when their stomach is empty they have one problem. When their stomach is full they have no problem. Whereas for humans when their stomach is empty they have one problem. When their stomach is full they have 100 problems. Human beings give far too much importance to themselves. In my view they should live like animals. That way at least there will be a bit of peace and quiet in this world.

If I have to pay, then let MCC and ACT reimburse my money for all the years that I took care of these three stray dogs. Oh well!

This news of ghastly accidents on NH66/NH17 is not new or news. Numerous complaints have been written in various media on the reckless and possible drunken driving of these private buses that run from Mangalore to Udupi and vice versa, and also on the parking of trucks on highways and service roads – question is: What is the RTO doing about preventing such ghastly accidents or in ensuring truck and half lorry drivers do not park on the dark highways and service roads. Special Pay and Park Areas or Zones in each town from Mangalore to Kundapur must be constructed adjacent to highways for the benefit of those trucks and half lorries that pay TOLL anyway if using the highway.

Indian cities are straining under a stray dog epidemic. Since animal rights fanatics oppose the culling of stray dongs, the only way to curb the stray dog population is to require dog owners to have a license for their dogs a and to require dog owners to spay and neuter their dogs.

I do not understand what is wrong with paying for a license or microchiping a dog. The bad circumstance of losing a dog. The licence number will in a small way help to find a pet. What is the harm in that. Rs 300 is not a big amount for the safety for a part of your family? I am not trying to put you down. You have the right to your opinion but please do try to look at things from the positive side, of which there are many. Can u imagine how good this rule would be for our pets. Vaccinated and hopefully neutered so your problem with strays will also be solved. Happier and merrier.

Before posting random hate posts against stray dogs, kindly note that strays are strays because of ignorant people who abandon their pets. And if somebody cannot afford 300Rs/year, then he/she has no business adopting a pet, because when the pet falls sick, he/she will have to spend much more than that to nurse it back to health.

  • From GAURI RAI on Bow..bow! MCC making Dog Owners Pay for Licence-Permit is Nonsense!

Yes there are pros and cons of any issue. A sum of 300 rupees won’t matter much to some and for some others it will be a big amount to shell out. News must be based on facts and not assumptions or opinions. Half the strays on the streets are the unwanted litter thrown away by the pet owners. They want their pet but not its litter. No effort is put into getting their pet neutered. The trend of abandoning pets is also on the rise. These abandoned ones too end up being stray animals. When we buy a vehicle licencing and registration is mandatory and no one complains about it. In case of vehicle theft, reporting it, tracing that vehicle and claiming ownership becomes easy. Some way if one loses their pet or pet gets stolen, don’t you think things are going to be a lot easier. If that is ok, why not this.

“Nonsense” is the right word used by the author about this senseless and useless rule. Mayor Kavitha needs to concentrate her mind on other serious civic issues than this not so important dog licence issue. Pet owners had dogs for decades and has been no problems- only lately stray dogs are the menace and nuisance. Let the MCC take care of the stray dogs issue first, than trouble the pet owners.

All the pet dog owners are getting their dog vaccinated on time ,so the MCC to do it does not arise. There are also several people who have adopted stray pups and look after them . Me being interested in everything regarding space… had a discussion with my friend who is an engineer. I discussed from a point of view of feasibility of capturing an asteroid and placing in the geostationary orbit was highly ambitious. My friend being an engineer calculated the weight of cable required to suspend the structure… and he came with a figure of 15million tons for a single cable. He concluded that the cable itself will snap under its own weight. And also how will anybody shift 15 millions tons of cable into space? The other thing is that a structure dangling from an asteroid placed in a geostationary will create drag and it will eventually slow down the asteroid’s velocity. If asteroid losses its velocity it will be pulled towards earth by gravity. And I believe that I don’t have to explain what will happen next.

Mrs Gandhi was served cold idlis which had stones during her stay at the circuit house in Madikeri in 1979. This of course was in 1979 when she was out if power and was also expelled from the parliament by Morarji Desai. This was allowed to happen under the very nose of Dev Raj Urs wgo was the CM. He had fallen out with her. Least did he expect the break if Janata party which led to the dissolution of parliament and mid term elections were called in 1980. Dev Raj Urs had to resign as Janata lost and his own Cong (D) had to bow out. See the fate in politics. Siddu who was a JDS guy is the CM now. He needs Indiramma to revive Cong I image. Why not Sonia canteen? Pizza khaanaa mana hai kya? Why not Rahul canteen? Bargar and sos? Woh bhi chalega. What about Priyanka canteen? Diet coke and chips only? Good choice would be Jannu canteen when it comes to apna kudla. Kottige paayasa. Hotte tumba tinni. Jokes apart, I support Siddu’s idea of subsidised food for the underprivileged. May God bless him.

Stupid gas station attendant. The gas station owner has to pay the damages. They usually empty the gas tank and flush it with gas. If he is lucky it may just be a minor problem. They need to have diesel pumps separate from gas pump. Gas station is clearly at fault. Sorry to hear this.

While it is a good thought to develop Tourism utilizing the Malpe Beach and the Padukere Beach, it is very vital for Mr. Pramod Madhwaraj to take a walk on the road leading from Udupi Bi-Pass to Malpe. For ages nothing is being done to widen or improve this main road – except for big talks on development and Tourism. Besides the area from Malpe to Vadamandeshwar stinks of rotten fish due to Coronet Fish Canning factory – spoiling the environment. Nothing is being done to stop this bad odour by anyone.

  • From George Dsouza on Death of Fr Patrick Rodrigues is 'Nirvana' - Bishop Aloysius D'Souza

We are saddened by the sudden demise of Fr.Patrick Rodrigues. May his soul rest in peace. An untiring soul who dedicated his life for others. But I am surprised about the so called comments made by Bishop Aloysius; like ‘ Nirvana’ and ‘Reincarnation ‘ as reported in the headline of the article. One fails to understand as how these words relate to Catholic teachings; in terms of doctrine or Bible . Comparing Christian life to Hinduism or Buddhism itself distorts the essence of it. While Hinduism or Buddhism are a philosophical way of life, and drawing analogy is like diluting Christ’s teachings in our own suitable way. While ‘Nirvana’ refers to Buddhist way of detaching oneself from the karma of worldly cycle of death and rebirth, ‘Reincarnation ‘ means soul taking rebirth into another body after one’s biological death as Hinduism mentions. Christians do not believe either of the above terms and nowhere the it finds mentioned church doctrine.

Yes, Thank you for the Mangalorean Team. It is the fact that when most media are shying away from publishing hard facts, but go behind sensational journalism and treating it as a money making business, Mangalorean had the courage to show the mightiness of the pen . Only few are standing on strong feet to protect the citizen’s right and interest. Mangalorean took a special interest in this case from very beginning and made many follow-up work. May be the perpetrators of the crime are much more powerful and stay beyond the reach of the law, government and judiciary so justice will remain as a mirage for the victims and the surviving family.

The reason the MCC does not know what is being dug, by whom, and where, is perhaps due to MESCOM being primarily an administrative body, and contracts all it’s works, electrical or civil to Third Party petty contractors, who are chosen Therefore, these petty contractors think MESCOM is a government body, and why would the government body need permission from the MCC, which is just another administrative body. In the USA, one cannot dig even a small hole without prior permission from the electric, gas, and water dept., who personally come, inspect, mark, and approve or disapprove the area inquired upon for digging. • From Nilesh on Don't Compare Me to Past Mayors- I'll Be Better !- Kavita Sanil

Dear Mayor, Its my long lived dream to see my place beautiful which is been over shadowed by the current so called real estate boom. The promises that you have made is just too hard to achieve although I wish and hope I am proven wrong. Unless proper infrastructure will be in place everything will be a waste of time and money. The corporator alone will not be able to carry out the duties and hence the responsibilities should be given to the citizens as well. Identify all the wards and put forth the criteria to award the best ward every six month. In this way people will be prompted to keep their area clean. The storm water drain should be cleaned every three months in order not to flood certain area and for the free flow of the water. Its very important to adopt greenery in order to get away with the water calamity. Road marking is very important to maintain the lane discipline and to avoid accidents. More traffic signs at road junctions should be installed. Proper footpath and pedestrian crossing places. It should be made mandatory to pedestrians to cross roads in designated crossing places. Or else spot fines should be imposed. If they fail to pay fine then they should be asked to do community service. The fines collected should be accounted and used for improving the roads department. More emphasis should be given to solar paneled street lights and automated timers should be set to on-off the lights. Parking spaces should be made available with proper parking lines. Round about should be installed where there is traffic congestion. Heavy vehicles should be allowed to travel only on the left lane and not allowed to take the speed lane. No stopping of buses unless on a designated bus stop. Very important as I have seen several accidents taken place because of the buses being abruptly stopped in the mid of the roads. No trucks should be allowed to park besides the highway especially on the kpt-nanthoor stretch which is causing jams. Designated truck stop over areas should be planned. Fines should be imposed on truck drivers not following the rules. More interlock area required in places besides the main roads which is usually seen with soil being flown around the main roads causing problems to the commuters as well spoiling the beauty of the city. More parks should come up. Cheers ! Good Luck

So you thought that the newly minted monk chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, was only given to making blood-thirsty Muslim-baiting speeches. Well, his views documented in his writings (in Hindi), on women and Christians should also make you wonder at the BJP’s wisdom and commitment to hugely publicised schemes such as “beti bachao, beti padhao”. Consider the top five Yogi bites which are more medieval monk than modern leader: 1) On several documented occasions, Yogi Adityanath had accused Mother Teresa of being part of a conspiracy to “Christianise” India. The news agency PTI had reported on June 21, 2016, that he said “Teresa was part of a conspiracy to Christianise India. Christianisation has led to separatist movements in parts of North-East, including Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.” This is the distilled wisdom of the Sangh because in 2015, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had in a similar comment said Mother Teresa’s services to the poor were aimed at converting them to Christianity. 2) Adityanath’s worldview on women makes for interesting reading. He has written in Hindi that he believes women need male protection from birth to death and their energy/power (urja) should be regulated or controlled lest it become worthless and destructive. Only controlling women power will foster the birth and rearing of great men, he has said in his writings available on his website (www.yogiadityanath.in), mostly dating to 2014. He has repeatedly mentioned the Vedas as being the fount of wisdom in dealing with women and his views don’t seem to have moved an inch from that era as he vehemently opposed the women’s reservation Bill. 3) Adityanath went against the official party line and said “women do already have reservations in many areas. First analyse and assess the impact of this in gram sabhas, panchayats and local bodies. Assess and then decide whether women who are in active politics and public life like men… whether in this process they may not lose their importance and role as mothers, daughters and sisters”. Balm-like thoughts on working women from the CM of the country’s largest state. Alarmed? Wait. Brace yourself. Lots more. 4) Adityanath warns in his essay on “the inherent dangers in making women like men”. He quotes texts to say “if men acquire women-like qualities they become God but, when women acquire men-like qualities they become “rakshas” (demons)”. Serious thought must be given to these issues, writes Adityanath. Wonder what will happen to the women who have crossed the line and work in UP’s administration? Or the nominal women Adityanath has appointed to his cabinet? Adityanath perhaps is echoing Modi who came up with “despite being a woman” to describe Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, on June 9, 2015. 5) Adityanath abhors feminism and makes no bones about it. He writes “else the thoughtless storm of women freedom of the western world will drive them to an even more disastrous condition and it will hamper the creation and stability of the home and family and prevent the glorious rebuilding of the nation and motherland”. So now you know ladies. If you leave aside the open feral Muslim-baiting speeches, Adityanath is hardly a reassuring figure for UP’s women and Christians either. The larger question is that does such medieval monk-like thinking belong in the 21st century? Specially the mindset of an uber powerful leader of India’s biggest political state? Accusing Mother Teresa of converting gullible Hindus to Christianity, he said, “Mother Teresa was part of the conspiracy to Christianise India. Hindus were targeted in the name of doing service and then converted.” Adityanath, who has been an advocate of ghar wapsi, allegedly led a “purification” drive for conversion of Christians to Hinduism in 2005.Not to forget Church attacks in Karnataka. Is this Sabka sath, sabka vikas? Jai Hind

  • From Sheikh on Demonetization most Viable Model for Endurable Development - Anil Bhokil

The decision to demonetise will cause grievous injury to the honest Indian who earns wages in cash. The dishonest black money hoarder will get away with a mere rap on the knuckles It is said that “money is an idea that inspires confidence”. At the stroke of the midnight hour, on November 9, 2016, the confidence of more than a billion Indians was destroyed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared that more than 85 per cent of the value of money held in notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 was worthless overnight. In one impetuous decision, the Prime Minister has shattered the faith and confidence that hundreds of millions of Indians had reposed in the Government of India to protect them and their money. More than 90 per cent of India’s workforce still earn their wages in cash. These consist of hundreds of millions of agriculture workers, construction workers and so on. While the number of bank branches in rural areas have nearly doubled since 2001, there are still more than 600 million Indians who live in a town or village with no bank. Cash is the bedrock of the lives of these people. Their daily subsistence depends on their cash being accepted as a medium of valid currency. They save their money in cash which, as it grows, is stored in denominations of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 notes. To tarnish these as ‘black money’ and throw the lives of these hundreds of millions of poor people in disarray is a mammoth tragedy. The vast majority of Indians earn in cash, transact in cash and save in cash, all legitimately. It is the fundamental duty of a democratically elected government in any sovereign nation to protect the rights and livelihood of its citizens. The recent decision by the Prime Minister is a travesty of this fundamental duty. Demonetisation is substance without success. Repeated denial of RTI query from both PMO and RBI Governor proves its failure. Prior to demonetisation outlawing Central government employees from investigation agency without government approval is another blunder. Excluding the political parties from Foreign funding and RTI act is the continuation of black money by the political elite.Open Hundi policy during demonetisation adopted by the government is just open space practice hawala by the temples. PMO nor RBI Governor know what is the success of entire demonetisation process. None of the office is willing to take open questionnaire in the neutral venue from International media or Indian mass media is its testimony. I challenge Anil Bokil to prove $135 billion outstanding debt of public sector banks will be paid by the corporate world? Indian democracy is the mother of all corruption.Demonetisation is not the solution until political system is cleansed. Jai Hind
